530e trunk dimensions? (Solved)

So I'm waiting to take delivery of my 530e, probably by mid september. It would be interesting, to assess my future logistical challenges, to learn the major trunk dimensions of the 530e.

Has anyone done some measuring similar to what this user did on a standard G30?

It would be nice to see some numbers!

530e trunk is same, only 10 cm less height all around.

When you have the floor down, this deeper pocket has the same height as the original trunk. First pic is the floor up and the second is down. You can hide stuff under there when you have the floor cover up.

The 530e is 400 pounds heavier than the 530i and you are receiving a smaller gas tank (17 gallons vs 14).

I understand the 530e has its fans but color me unconvinced about the added complexity and weight of this model in exchange for a mere
16-20 miles of pure EV charge.

The 530i is much lighter, handles better, less complex and has amazing fuel economy... 36MPG highway and 27MPG combined. The most efficient large size sedan currently on sale in North America.

It all depends on your driving. I do a lot of shorter trips (5-6 miles) and can garage my car in between and charge it up. As a result, I have been getting between 700-900 miles on a tank of gas (and my tank is 12.4 gallons, not 14 gallons).

I agree with SteveinArizona.

I test drove both the 530i and 530e and did not notice a significant difference in handling or performance. When I factored in the very generous government rebate available at the time on the 530e (making it less than the 530i) and the green plates allowing me to drive in HOV lanes alone, it was an easy decision. But then different people have different perspectives.

Yes. and I think 530i driver has an agenda as his response to the OP was a non sequiter. He certainly has a right to his views, Responding to a question regarding the size and capacity of the trunk with an answer about the weight of the 530e and complexity of the car systems is simply his views on the 530i vs. 530e. Those are legitimate concerns but were not responsive to the question.

Trust me I have no agenda and could care less what people do with their hard earned Benjamin's. Live and let live is how I roll even though I am pretty opinionated. For me personally the 530e is a pointless effort but it doesn't mean it should also be for you or anyone else.

So relax and enjoy your car. Any 5er is a great place to be in my book.

I will provide some resolution to my own thread here, perhaps it can be useful for somebody in the future.

So I made some quick measurements on a colleagues 530e. Attached are the major dimensions(roughly) of it's cross section. Width wise it's the same as the standard G30, so the dimensions linked in the original post applies for the 530e also.

Dimensions in cm's.
(The sketch is not entirely at scale)

Key test for me is "can I fit my golf bag in without removing clubs or putting down one of the back seats?". The answer is yes.

I can fit 4 size 22 CARRYON TravelPro bags, back pack and 3 or 4 smaller carryon handle bags in the trunk of the 530i without having to open the rear seat backs or anything else for that matter.
