Active grill stuck open

Last night I noticed my active grill refuses to close. When it tries you hear a crunching noise so something has gone a little wrong.

Any ideas or ways to reset the mechanism?

Nope. Part failure and requires replacement under warranty.

Cheers. It's booked in for next week. I'll provide an update when I have one.

Thanks for the heads up the extended warranty point. Do you have any official documentation that I can show to my dealer if there are any disputes on the warranty front?

Yes but be careful as the warranty extension to the part may not be valid in the U.K.

Usually throws a CEL as it did with my 2018 540i. It was covered under USA warranty repair at about 28,000 miles. /exthree

Just an update on this. I've not got the car back yet but the grill was replaced under warranty....if it goes again and my warranty has expired, I'll remove it altogether. I understand it can be done by removing a fuse?

No and don't even try.

BMW has a revised part number for the active shutters, so hopefully the new part will be more reliable than the factory one.
