Software updates overwriting coding options....
I've done a search and there is a software update for my ID6.
I've had a few disconnects with my iPhone so I'm hoping this could help somewhat. However, I've had some coding options applied to my car. Would this software update remove the coding I've applied? (e.g. start/stop memory, seatbelt gongs, and rear camera enable at speed, etc....) I've also applied a CarPlay coding option (I suppose I could do this again), but can anyone advise before I do the update? Just for reference, I downloaded it from bmw.com/update Software update: UPD09042 Thanks!

The updates available on line that you can do via USB will generally affect communications items only (phone compatibility, bluetooth, etc.) and not coding items. I am not sure about Carplay. The website is often out of date also, and if you are not having phone issues, it is probably better not to update. When a dealer does a software update, that will wipe out any coding.

I think I'm just going to leave it. CarPlay sometimes disconnects so thought it could help.
I might ask the dealership to do an update and then recode the car. It's not a big deal but good to be ready! If I update to the latest ID6, would that offer me Alexa support (currently not offered even in ConnectedDrive), and this is one feature I would really like!
