530e increased range

My car had the ID7 July upgrade yesterday. For the first time ever, the car is saying the range is 30 miles. Yesterday was the first time for many months that the battery was fully drained then fully charged. The weather and use conditions are the same.

Over the week before the upgrade and battery depletion the range was always below 20. Due to COVID none of my drives since March have fully drained the battery so I have charged on a part charged battery for 7 months.

I can’t see the July upgrade being anything to do with the range so it must be the depletion of the battery. Has anyone else noticed an improvement after fully depleting the battery after running a long time only doing minimal mileage.

I have seen best range of 41KM and have managed to drive for 40KM before ICE kicked in.
These days range shows 32-34KM and i drive 15km everyday.

Mine is 12kwh with ID7 with Android Auto update installed. Is there a more recent version of ID7 available?

Others have reported a similar experience after a service visit. The usual explanation is that the driving history has been reset and once you accumulate a new driving history with your use, the predicted range will revert to what you were previously seeing.

If you have Android Auto it looks like you have it. The easiest way to tell is in the sat nav the selections for destinations have reduced significantly. I think there was about 7 now just 2.

I am thinking that BMW may have slightly decreased the amount of battery that it saves from primary usage.

That is one of the "tricks" Tesla has done to get their relatively high EPA range numbers. The other trick is working the EPA "adjustments" to the benefit of range. Their other "non-trick" is they have the most efficient power train and battery technology. Tesla seems to put in running changes to their battery chemistry, as compared to BMW doing generational step changes on a longer product cycle.

Thanks. I remember seeing 47KM range after dealer updated software but it slowly went down as i started driving.

There seems to be full ID7 update being made available. Not sure if they would be installing/updating on Pre-LCI cars.

I just noticed the same thing. It's has always been 51-53 and then after a recent visit I noticed it went down to 32-34.
