Nope, because I'm not an asshole.

I'm all for opening it up a little on empty roads but crowded roadways like the LIE is a bit different.
Trying it once to see what your car is capable of or multiple times doesn't really make you an asshole... Everyone does it this guy just got unlucky and had his video found like very few others. If this guy didn't get caught the topic of conversation would probably be how cool the video is ... a bunch of M cars on their way to a car meet ... Not trying to justify just stating facts

Everyone around here also accelerates to prevent people from merging or getting over thus making congestion around here that much worse.

I don't do that though and think that people who do it are assholes (or just Maryland drivers, they just instinctively do that and should be banned from driving on public roads). I can easily hop on a country backroad that's empty and not full of residential houses, slap the car in sport mode and see what the car is capable of. Even better, I can also do it at local auto-x events and at nearby Summit Point race track.

Swerving like that without signaling and cutting off cars makes you an asshole, sorry. And if you don't realize it and justify it by "a lot of people do it" would also make you clueless. Since a lot of people do this too, I guess it's cool right?

Racing is out of control on Long Island. Just last week alone I witnessed two different accidents on different occasions from people going in and out of lanes. First one was a sl550 chasing an f13 m6 and the sl ended up taking out a car in the right lane. Other time was a 135 being chased by an e60 5 series debadged and the 5 series hit like 3 cars somehow. People gotta relax and just go to englishtown to drag or go to lime rock to a road course. Stupid to total your car for cheap thrills

Let's be serious. Everybody drives reckless (relatively speaking). There are Honda, mustang , bimmer, Lambo and Vette guys that have done this kind of stuff. I also bet may people posting on this very forum have done this once or twice. Let he without sin cast the 1st stone. Everything look worse on camera. I know I don't drive like that now but I can't speak for my actions at 23 years old. He was wrong, he was caught, he'll be punished.

Lighten up ya'll.

This is absolute ASSHATTERY!!! I agree I am an ASS-Hat myself but I take my ASSHATTERY to the track.

Imagine the lives those idiots are risking. Not their own worthless ones but the innocent ones on the roads... especially those little helpless kids in their parents' SUVs and Minivans.

You find a ton of videos online of people publicly racing their car on the roads 10 times worse then what was shown in that video. This kid could be facing a year in jail? Outrageous IMO
I've never driven like this, nor do I know anyone who has. Driving in excess of speed limits and enjoying the car is much different than cutting in and our of heavy traffic and putting other peoples lives at risk.

I don't think you know what luck means.

"Other people do it" is not a defense.

I ran into him about a month ago on the cross Bronx coming back into Nj. I thought it was going to be a fun little cruise but this guy was batshit crazy. I let off within 10 seconds and let him be on his way.

I only see people drive like this in New York, I'm not saying all ny drivers do outlandish shit like this but I've seen this type of driving numerous times in Ny. I'm all about having a little bit of fun when you run into another cool car on the highway, but there's a time and a place for it, very light traffic, wide open straight, etc. He needs to lose his license for a long time.

I never ever weave and it really upsets me when people do hard lane changes, especially when my son is in the car with me. That being said, I do speed when on empty roads but never do rice fly bys mostly bc i do not trust Candycrush and Facebook addicted drivers to remember they are on a road and in a car.

Police can pretty much take anything if they suspect it was involved in a crime. Your money, your house, your car... it's called civil forfeiture.

Basically your stuff is guilty unless you can prove it's innocent.

a lot of us speed higher than the posted speed limits, and to be honest if sometimes challenged I'll give people a fare run, however judging your surrounding should come first in any of this instances, a lot of times the highways are empty for certain stretches and if challenged I push my car every now and then, but once we reach a cloud of traffic and I see the other person zig zag and start cutting people off that's where it all stops there's simply no excuse to be that wreckless

My questions is what triggers police to watch this video and decided to make the arrest...There are hundreds and thousands videos on Youtube about street racing and why this one is made it on the news. I have seen far worth than this and no one got arrested.

When a crime is committed, in which clearly there was, the tool used in the crime is evidence. Perfectly legal. Secondly, it's a misdemeanor in most states. This violation in most states also gives authority the right to seize vehicle, meaning it was towed away and can be held up to a certain amount of time.
