Having owned an E30 M3, E36 M3, Z4 M Coupe and driven E46 M3, E92 M3, F84 M4, Z3 M Coupe. The E30 M3 isn't near as fast and any of the others, but the way the car handles and how you can drive it is amazing. Definitely the best M car ever made.

Ha! That's strange/funny. BMW USA website still has "The Ultimate Driving Machine" under the BMW logo, but BMW Canada has "The Ultimate Driving Experience".

Perhaps an admission BMW has compromised "the ultimate driving machine?"

They use different phrases all over.. The german one doesn't mention 'machine' or 'ultimate' either

Most european ones offer more of a take on the 'sheer driving pleasure' one!

I thought the slogan "The ultimate driving machine" only was a US slogan. I dont think they have ever used that in Europe? They still use it in the US.

Over here it's "Sheer driving pleasure" that is their slogan (in various languages)

Maybe it was the sample that we had, but I loved the driving experience in our Z4 M Coupe so much more than the E30 M3. Maybe I'm just a Hp freak. E30 just didn't do anything for me.

I drove a friend's E30 M3 and on an admittedly short run, it didn't do anything for me at all. I stepped back into my E36 M3 at the time and never looked back.

Out of all the BMWs I've tried over the years, the things that stayed the most with me were the trustworthy nature of the E36's performance envelope, and the infectious and energetic feel of the E46 M3.

I'd like to own an E46 CSL right now. Might be one to keep forever. Too bad it isn't available in the US...
