Just Ordered 2019 M550i
I'd been tooling around with the CA at my dealership for the better part of 6 months. Finally went in, realized I was going to continue being picky about my options, and just put a deposit on a new build this morning.
Azurite Black Metallic Mocha Nappa interior Fineline Cove Matte trim 20" 668M w/MPSS non-runflats Driving Asst Plus Dynamic Handling Package Executive Package Premium Package (which later became ZP2+ZPK) Luxury Seating Package Ceramic Controls Front/Rear Heated Seats Heated Steering Wheel Leather Dash Remote Control Parking The only thing I'm still waffling on are the 20" vs. 19" wheels. Atlanta has some tough streets downtown but you don't particularly move fast on them. Originally stuck with 19s because I liked the look better in online photos but my computer screen was not doing the 669Ms justice vs. seeing them in person (and the BMW build tool makes them look like trash). But I do still worry about ride comfort/damage. Started the day looking at a few different versions of black and wondering if Azurite was worth the extra $2k and wait, but then the only Azurite Black they had to show me in person was the M5 hiding in the corner of the showroom. Not sure whether it was the actual color or seeing it on the M5, but we were sold on it over Carbon & Sapphire pretty much immediately. Supposed to get production # and build week on Monday but with the "individual" paint CA is saying to expect delivery around Thanksgiving. We thought about ED but decided on PCD instead; primarily because I didn't want to do ED in the winter but also didn't want to wait until April to go get the car. Should be fine with 20" wheels. I am 4 1/2 weeks and 1300 miles in on 2018 M550 with 20" go flat Michelins and am highly impressed with ride, handling and pot hole survival.
Would not recommend run flats. |

Agreed. If nervous, shop for wheel/tire insurance. The ride on the 20" non-flats is very good and no issues yet in 2K miles.

Thanks for the replies. Test drive was on 20" runflats and felt fine - of course I didn't have a non-runflat to compare.
I need to dig into how much trunk space is lost when going to a non-runflat and having to take the spare. Or I suppose I can just swap out later and know I'll be calling for a tow if I get a flat. |

Runflats or not, something about having a spare is nice, especially on road trips or whatnot. |

If I'm reading it all correctly, it looks like I actually got PN Friday but it was late so CA didn't send it to me until Monday. Ind paint and PW45 confirmed Tuesday. Apparently they also had to get RC Parking confirmed and that was approved at the same time as the paint. I had a minor change (tires) that I made at that point and that was quickly confirmed as well. I also have a note that my configuration is locked as of 9/21 so my CA wants me to sign off on a "final" VIR this week if I can. I guess there's an earlier lock on indiv builds...all good with me as I've been poking at this build for months to get everything exactly how I want! |

How many weeks before your PW with IND were allowed to make a change. I forgot to add parking assist wit 3d cameras and was told last week was too late.

Just got an email from CA. Still PW45 but the earliest date for PCD is January 10!
I guess a combination of busy PCD schedule and the holidays. Now I'm struggling with just waiting it out or taking delivery at the dealer instead. Rgh. |

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for early to mid december for my week 46 but I won't hold my breath.

Over the course of today I found my car in the paint booth and now at assembly in progress. Still a long wait until my PCD, but nice to see it moving along!
