Congrats I guess??!?!? At least it's confirmed complete now. Maybe there's just an issue with the time it takes to complete an M550i. Mine may have been one of the first with the slowdown. I suppose you could just follow my timeline and extrapolate from there. I just hope you don't have to wait at the port so long!

Thank you lol!!

That's the best way to look at it, at least it's confirmed that build is done.

I'll have to start keeping my hopes down, seems like it won't be till May when I get my car.

I will just have to come to the dealership and stare at your car for few hours to feel better

Surprising that in 2019 with all the tech we have that an entire system can be down for days.

My production week is 16, so 4/15. BMW Genius said it should be starting production soon, maybe Friday or Saturday. The person I spoke to said he had heard from other customers that the MyBMW site had delayed updates. He also said they can't give out status codes.

Maybe once my car moves from Scheduled to Started I'll feel less anxious, but I doubt it.

I still have no clue how it's possible for a system to be down for few days. In my case, I'm not sure if it was because the system was down or slow or my dealership just made the wrong assumption of my car being finished.

My dealership always gives me a status if they have one available. I don't see any reason why they can't do that for you.

That first wave of anxiety kicks in until the production begins and everything is smooth. 2nd wave starts kicking in when your car is close to finish. If for some reason, a certain process starts taking to long, that anxiety turns into something else lol.

I was calculating my timeline based on Bastula's, since we have the same color, pretty much same options and delivery to the same dealership
His assembly seemed to move just a little quicker than mine, and his quality check was 6 days compared to my 11 days. This was the part where anxiety changed

Logged in this morning and saw that my car is dispatched from factory

4/2/19- waiting for carrier assignment
4/4/19- dispatched from factory

I guess they made up for the extra days they took in quality check, since Bastula's timeline showed roughly 7 days from this transition

I see you're so excited you triple posted - but that's great news! Shouldn't take too long to get to the port though, it's a pretty quick train ride.

Hahahah!!! I think there was a lag in the internet when trying to submit my post.

Yeah I looked at the port schedule, next one leaving is 4/7/19 but that one takes 17 days to get to Baltimore. Another one is leaving on 4/9/19 and only takes 13 days and arrives in Baltimore 2 days earlier.

I guess this is one time where I would want my car to wait at the port a little longer

Yeah, you're right, I would probably want it to wait as well.

In other news, the vessel my car is on is about to dock in Baltimore. That means this voyage was only 10 days!! Finally a way to make up for lost time. Hope you get on the faster ship!

It's always great news when things are moving fast or are ahead of time!! I'm really excited for you

My car reached the port yesterday

Is there a way to track the ship on its way to Baltimore?

Congrats!

Yes, once you know the name of the ship, you can track it on various sites. I use marinetraffic.com. There is more detailed info here.

Exciting news all around! Yes I used 3 different sites but I found ShipTracking and the associated app to track the ship the best. The map was the most up to date.

+1. I thought mine was sitting at the port for 8 days and it turned out the system just hadn't updated yet. Seems this is what most people experience.

Mine got on the ship on April 5th. The website didn't show "in transit" until the morning of the 8th. So it appears to be true.

I was tracking another vehicle a few weeks ago, and although it had arrived at the dealership, it still showed "in transit" on the website a week later.

Does BMW genius know whether or not the vehicle is on the ship or do they also have the delay in update as well?

My car reached the port on 4/5/19 and there was a ship leaving on 4/7/19 and 4/9/19. Again when I checked online, it still shows my car is at port.

However, I called BMW Genius on 4/9/19 at 8:30 P.M. to see if they might have any additional information. They said my car is at port still waiting for a vessel assignment.

So I'm pretty sure my car has not made either of the two ships since this is the update I received from the phone call.

Just wanted to know if BMW genius also have some delay with receiving information or it's pretty much accurate?

It might be accurate. My car sat for essentially 2 weeks at the port. I was calling the Genius about every 2 days. They didn't get any updated info until 2 days after the car left the port. I really think this is because of the worldwide release of the 3 series, especially the M340i. So there are just too many cars coming off the line and there's a big backlog.
