I am currently leasing a car (non-BMW) with Android Auto and have become highly dependant on the features/functionality. From what I understand, BMWs fitted with iDrive 7 are the only ones capable of Android Auto.
As much as I'd like to purchase a new 2021/2020 BMW, I'm wondering if there are 2017-2019 BMWs fitted with iDrive 7 and have Android Auto. Currently interested in the 540i due to a softer ride (wife easily gets car sick), but I am open for recommendations. Any model recommendations/suggestions (non 2020/2021) for a soft ride BMW model with iDrive 7? |

iDrive changed to version 7 "lite" with the 2020 models. 2019 still iD6. All the 2020's will get an update when they are serviced at the dealer which will add Android Auto. I do not think 2017-19 will get AA.

It will be easy for the OP to tell the difference if shopping for an Android Auto capable G30- just look at the display. If you have the traditional looking spedo and tach it won't get updated to Android Auto. If you have the new digital cockpit then you will get AA.
