iDrive 7 software version inconsistency
I took my car for routine change to the dealer yesterday. They also replaced the steering wheel column (per TSB) and reprogrammed the car. Now I see version 3/22 in myBMW app and 11/21 in the car (IMPRINT), and the car still indicates that an oil change is due. The paperwork says that oil change was done. Also fault code was found (and reset) in HUH module (not sure that HUH is). It is a pain to take the car back, so I wonder if there is something I can do on my own. I already reset iDrive with no change.

There is a little bit of lag in the version imprint. Last time I had a software update I was checking the app while waiting for my car. Then I got the text my car was ready, so I thought the software update might not have been performed as requested. I have a 2020 so no OTA updates. The service advisor told me there is a bit of a lag for the app to reflect updates. And sure enough that turned out to be true. I'm just surprised your car imprint is behind your app, as I would expect the other way around.

I took the car to the dealer and the technician (whom I found very helpful in the past) said that while unlikely, it is possible that whoever did the update was not using the latest version of ISTA. He was willing to update it again, but because I had no issues with the car and it would be a long wait, he suggested they will do an update next time I bring it in for scheduled service (in Jan 23). I don't know what happens behind the scene, but I would expect that after car gets updated, it needs to be synched with HO servers from which the Manual app pulls its info. But this is just guessing. Maybe someone can comment on the update process. |

For connected drive to say your car is on a newer software release than the car is very odd indeed ! Can you screenshot your imprint from inside the vehicle? And also the navigation update screen please, as that also contains a date stamp and version number I can look up |

I wonder if that is related to "HUH fault" listed on the paperwork.

Actually, the map screen shows the build date of the software as I explained.
Yes the "ilevel" shows in settings, but it's possible to update the car and not write the new ilevel to the car ( ie have 03/22 software but the settings page shows 11/21), as it is a different step in the process. This is what we were trying to determine happened or not |
