Radar Detector recommendation for 2020 M550i
Hello,
I've been reading up on Radar Detectors and did not find much info. What i did read is that some detectors dont like the "driving assistance" features since the car uses a type of radar to make it work. What are some recommendations and mounting/installation advice? Thanks, Mark |

The very best dash mount detectors at this moment are as follows. All of these should do a good job of filtering out your driver assist radars. Gesture control filtering can still be hit and miss. Valentine one gen 2 Escort Redline 360c Uniden R7 If you go for one of the above, get a blend mount to attach to the mirror housing. That said, I haven't used a detector in years. Before you invest in one, if you're an android user, check out the JBV1 or Highway Radar apps. Running JBV1 in stand alone mode provides some solid protection. It crowd sources data and does a pretty good job of reporting police location and telling you where police commonly setup enforcement. It even can tell you where active aircraft enforcement is. JBV1 is not available for iPhone. IPhone users are limited to Waze, Apple Maps, Google maps and it's speed trap reporting. The developer of Highway Radar app is said to be working on an iPhone version. If they can get it through the Apple approval process. Btw, if you end up purchasing a valentine one gen 2 also consider using JBV1 to better control and customize your V1.

Currently running a Redline 360c on BlendMount in my 2021 M550i and before that had a Uniden R7 on the same setup.
I turned gesture control off bc it annoys me anyway, but I do notice a lot of false MRCD indications (as I live in NYC I need MRCD) but otherwise truly prefer my Redline 360c to my old R7. Happy to answer questions about either of those if you have any |

I'm running the Escort Max 360C no false errors due to BMW systems.
I have it hard wired with a mirror tap (different brand) and mounted up near the rear view mirror using the mag suction cup it came with. |

I've heard many good things about the 360c here and on the M5 side. I'm not looking to hardwire, just a suction mount for when I feel like getting frisky.

Im using the uniden R7. No issues and works like its supposed to. You can adjust the crap out of it…tons of options.
https://www.vortexradar.com/2019/04/...-detector/amp/ If you page all the way near the bottom, there are some really good recommended settings. No false alarms. Not annoying at all |
