Anyone try Dinan S1 on 530i?

Haven't seen many reviews on Dinan S1 on the B46/48. Anyone have any experience?

Your best bet is to read reviews on the 2/3/4 series forums for the B48 tunes. Expect the same results in terms of power output, but our cars weigh a decent amount more than the other models.

Shouldn't be that bad.
They are known to have mild gain. So, most likely nothing can be wrong with it.
What are you looking to do btw? Simple power gain or aggressive gain?

Its a curiosity. I dont need more power, don't want more power but kind of wonder "what would the car feel like if power delivery was more effortless "

The low end doesn't have much power, ultimately i guess I'd like a little more power in stop and go driving. the 530i is a little coarse at lower RPMs and was hoping having slightly more power would make the power delivery feel a bit more effortless.

I've been reading through those forums a bunch, even the Mini forums and there's not much feedback on the B46/B48 tune.

Definitely some good reviews on the N20/N26 though.

For Mini, I have sold a lot of NM Engineering product.
It is very popular in Mini community.

EVOX chiptuning released their product which increases the horsepower up to 310hp.
I think I might try this once I hit 5000km or more.

Though, 60hp gain from a chip without any other work is quite aggressive, so I'm wondering if its safe....

DINAN Stage 1

It's a great bump in power. I don't have any problems. Since its turbo it does lag a bit. Power feels good though for this limo.

When you say it lags a bit, do you find that the lag is more noticeable than before the tune.

Stock feels almost like an N/A car to me, would hate to ruin that feel.

In sport mode you notice the bump in acceleration. But the lag is from the electronic pedal not from the turbo. Most of the pedal lag is from comfort and eco mode. The dinan and car in general shines in sport mode. But the eco mode gets 30+ mpg on the freeway so its a great feature. I really can't complain about this 4 banger.

Oh the lag was always there to me in comfort and eco before and after tune. I dont think its actually turbo lag its just pedal lag.

Yes! know exactly what you mean. I dont even think the issue is throttle response. When the car is in comfort i think its in such a high gear that when you mash on the pedal it needs a second to downshift. In sport mode, it seems like the car is always in the right gear so that delay is minimized to the point of being nearly non-existent. Same when you're in manual shift mode

I usually don't bother with comfort mode. If i'm commuting and there's traffic i'm in Eco Individual with steering set to sport. Otherwise i'm just in sport.

Know i'm in the minority but wish I could get this car with manual transmission and a limited slip. The comfort and refinement of the 5 along with a little driver engagement would make this thing perfect. Never gonna be a canyon carver or a track car, but at the risk of sounding like a broken record, where the hell are cars like the E39 these days?
