440 rims/tires on 540?

I am wondering if my winter tires and rims from my 440 would fit a 540 at all? If not, what size of winter tires do I need to get for a 540 that comes with OEM 20" rims? Thanks guys.

My 19" 440 rims are 8.5 width at the front and 9.5 at the back. They are wrapped in 255 square setup tires all around. Not sure if this would work on the 540 or not?

Hey,
No, the 4 series uses 5-120 bolt pattern while the new 5 series uses 5-112

Here's the recomonended tire sizes

M Brakes require 18" min.

front , rear
225/55R17,
245/45R18, 275/40R18,
245/40R19, 275/35R19,
245/35R20, 275/30R20 or 285/30R20,
255/30R21, 295/25R21

Thank you for your post! That's kinda shitty tho, if I decide to go ahead with the 5 series I am thinking I will have to get rid of this winter set and purchase a new one. Just more hassle.

Haha yes as much fun having a new set of shoes is..the fact that you gotta fork up $ for that is not as much fun...plus the selling of your old set.

Would a square setup of 255/40RF/20 97v Runflats fit the OEM 20" rims? The tires are Bridgestone Blizzaks.

or

255/35R20. Not sure what the difference really is to be honest...just checking my local classifieds. What is the width of the OEM 20" rims?

I would follow the recommended sizes
255/40/20 would mess with the speedo just a bit

The OEM 20" are 8" front, 9" rear

245/35/20 should work ok fron and back without a problem but original is 245/35/20 in front and 275/30/20 in the rear, I would follow that ☺

Thanks once again. I remember reading somewhere that for winter narrower the wheel the better for a smaller footprint on snow. So I am not super keen on getting something too wide for the back and I am okay with the square setup. But then the question is if the 245 tire would fit the rear 9" rim?

If the front rim is 8" then wouldn't the 255 tire be too wide for it anyway? In that case wouldn't the widest possible option up front be 245?

I can't find any 245/35/20 in my local classifieds anywhere. The closest I get is 245/ 45 r 20s which you're suggesting won't really work anyway?

I wouldn't put 255 in the front

Strange that you can't find 245/35/20`? Have you tried different vendors?

245/45/20 -> The height, "45" will mess with the speedo

EBAY Link

This is the BMW choice of brand/tire for G30

Would I be able to do a square set up of 245/35/20 on all 4 stock 20" rims, front and back?

Yes, bmw already recommends this set up with 20" for winter tires

Thank you.

So since a square setup of 245/35/20 would fit all 4 stock 20" rims, then these tires that are for sale in my local classifieds should work?

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-tires-rims/c...ationFlag=true

The only issue is when I search for them online they keep coming us light truck/SUV tires. But does that matter if the size is what I need for the 540?

Help please. Thanks.

They will work, as in bring you forward. But they are specieally designed for SUV's
But the most important thing to note is that they are all year tires, for summer and winter.
Meaning, they are not as good during summer as summer tires and not as good during winter as winter tires, so it's up to you

Here is the info about them:

"A tire with a symmetrical tread pattern for powerful SUVs. Ensures sport performance and safe driving in light offroad conditions.

SCORPION ™ ZERO ™ is a high performance tire with optimal safety in offroad conditions. It delivers excellent stability in cornering, exceptional wet and dry handling, and high level of grip on braking, thereby increasing safety margins and driving pleasure.

The attractive tread pattern makes it the ideal tire to combine with personal rims for a striking aesthetic effect.

CHARACTERISTICS:
Two / Three (Depending on width) wide longitudinal groove
Symmetrical design with Z profile. Specialized rubber blend
FEATURES:
Effective water / leather awakening
Increased grip on all surfaces
Grip on uneven surfaces
ADVANTAGES:
Improved safety in offroad conditions and potential water planning situations
Improved grip and braking safety
Improved grip and braking"

Thanks for your reply. I realize they are all season but at this time of the year winters are hard to find especially in that wise. So I am thinking all seasons in a AWD car will be good enough. Especially if I can find a cheap deal like that link.

The fact that they are designed for SUV's is what is throwing me off? Like what makes them designed for SUV and not car if the size is exactly what I need? I guess what I am wondering is if I install these are there going to be any issues at all for running them.

I honestly think it's just a advertisement gimmick.
They mention something about wider trackpattern for off road?.. doesnt tell me much.

For this price I guess it's worth to try!

Thanks for your input. It does make sense that it could be a marketing gimmick considering the size is exactly what I need. I don't see what they can do more to make it better for SUV's and not for cars. I am tempted by them considering the price and the fact that I would run those only during the winter anyway.

Only during winter? Then yeah, I'd go for it, for this price!
