Android chat message notification

Anyone with android phone figure out how to make chat message notification work? The car only notify when sms message is received. chat messages is a newer android feature that uses wifi to send/receive text and let's you see if other person is typing, etc.

I have ID6 I believe. Any way to get android auto with software update?

What do you get when a text SMS comes in? Can you provide a picture?

I don't have a picture right now, but it shows the message on the top of my screen and then goes away. If I swipe down for notifications, I see the message. If it's a chat message (RCS) and not SMS, I get no notification at all in idrive

Android Auto requires ID7+.

Are you on Android 11? Have you tried changing your RCS/chat messaging app? Maybe try Google Messages and see if that delivers the notification? There's a lot of incompatibility with the current Android RCS implementation. It's half baked at this point.

Try the stock sms app if you're on a Samsung or non Google device. Probably won't help, but try it. You may be SOL unless you choose to disable RCS chat. Your next BMW will have Android Auto. AA is pretty good, but not without its annoyances.
