From the X5 forum, CarPlay does appear to be in the HUD as well.

Thanks - that would be great! It sounded like the video that it would be, not entirely sure.

Agreed, very well done and informative video. Nice to see BMW project managers and those responsible for car talk about some of the features.

My who has an X5 had his software updated this week and he said CarPlay using only Apple Maps does display in Hud. So, if Waze and Google Maps finally program theirs to go to Apple Dashboard, will be curious to see if they show up in HUD. I use Waze all the time.
