M550i UK. Curious , anyone thinking of buying?

As title states, curious if anyone here is contemplating buying the M550i ?

If so contacted dealers yet as regards price?
Thoughts about buying this.

On www.broadspeed.com it is currently showing a discount of £11,690 - meaning £58,660 as a deal price. So pretty good... Previously my dealer has matched the broadspeed price without hesitation, also worth checking carwow etc too.

My strategy is always to find the best deal I can online and then take it along to my preferred dealer and say (nicely!) 'I want to pay that' and it works. If you'd like a dealer recommendation I'm happy to share.

In a non-covid environment I'd be very tempted by the M550i, but until all this craziness passes I need to ensure the little child inside stays quiet!!

Blimey that quite a bit off. Still on the expensive side mind you but looks like a bargain compared to a M5

Agreed - when you compare against the M5 its a flipping steal at that price! Having driven an M850 GC at the start of the year I'd be interested to try one to compare! Also new M3 won't be long and with the S58 that should be pretty good fun!

I was offered a new 7 series with a massive discount - only problem was the px on my 8 month old 5 series. So, if you own your current car the cost to change may be a lot more than you think. I did check with other dealers and they all offered just £ 2k more than WeBuyAnyCar !

Yeh depreciation is always the killer.
I own my 540 which is well specced up (£61k list) and has just hit 3 years old. It would be quite a lot to move to a 550.

See this as the last chance to buy a non mild hybrid / v8 in the U.K. and without the pending speed limiters that the eu are talking about implementing in the near future.
We may look back at this year (plus or minus a couple) as the best years of combustion engine cars......

Agreed... it is always the 'cost to change' figure that needs to be where your attention is. A big discount is a lot less attractive if the px value is poor.

Also given that my 540 has done all of 700 miles since March means that putting a chunk more money into a car is probably pretty silly as well as it looks like I will be working from home far more than ever before. With that in mind the sensible play (in my situation) would be to keep the 540 until it is 5 or 6 years old. Either that or my dealer will have to have a deal that is too good to refuse!

Hi, sorry to be nosey but which 7 was on offer? Im thinking of changing (despite lack of miles in the last 4 months) but the only choice of drive in a 7 is diesel or v12.

It was a 745e - V6 petrol plug-in M Sport built for Sept delivery ordered in July. Optioned up it listed at £ 87k and CarWow and my local dealer offered it for £ 62k. Despite the 745e greater battery capacity it’s range is about the same as the 730e / 530e but having the V6 it does 0 - 60 in about 5s. I just couldn’t live with my optioned up 530e costing over £ 2k / month in depreciation. I test drove the 7, albeit a diesel, and it really appealed - only a bit bigger than a 5 but with Reverse Assistant and 360 cameras it wasn’t too big to live with.
