Are there any coding experts in the DMV?
Can anybody in NoVa/MD/DC enable my "tunnel" headlamops, now that they're legal in the US? I know a lot of folks in CA can do it remotely but I'd prefer an in-person upgrade. Even easier would be if somebody in Buffalo or Rochester has the skills to do this. My car DOES have all the right hardware BTW. Thanks!!

You can use Bimmercode to partially enable Anti Dazzle and VLD. I don't think the functionality in Bimmercode compares to all the entries and parameters an experienced coder performs though.
What is your issue with remote coding? I'm sure there are plenty of shops in NYC. I would also ask the dealer if they can code this now that it's legal. My fear going that route is they are going to charge you a lot and I doubt they know what they are doing.

The title of this thread made me laugh out loud when I first saw it. I thought "Why would someone think that any of those bored-looking women behind the counter at the DMV would be coding experts?"

TBH I suspect most remote coders are fine... just nervous if somebody 2500 miles away starts something then flakes halfway thru. Not to be a downer but I would feel better if I were there with them.
As for "the DMV," i just started hearing it a year or two. I'm just an old guy trying to sound hip. |

In terms of being there. It's kind of like being there. A good coder will connect to your machine and text you constantly on what he is doing or seeing. You will see him connected on your laptop. Some coders share their screen so you can watch them but most don't. A typical coding session by someone who knows what they are doing (vs telling you they know how to do it and figuring it out during the session) will be 15-20 minutes. PM me if you are interested in my recommendations. I will give you the pro's and con's of a few.
