Here’s hoping it doesn’t sit at the port for a month waiting for a boat.

Do M550s ship out of Bremerhaven?

I think it depends where they are going. I’m in the U.K. and mine didn’t go from there.
The bmw “genius” should be able to state which port the car is going to or your dealer. I had a screenshot from my dealer so managed to do the detective work and work out which ship it was on and track the ship in real time up the English Channel into Southampton.

This is the painful part but I assure you it will be worth it. Superb car and last of the non M v8

My dealer confirmed that the cars ship out of different ports now. Zeebrugge and Bremerhaven are common for the M550.

Reach out to genius and they should be able to tell you!

Later it comes, might be better that the rates fall for your lease or finance. Let it happen and strategically select the date when you take delivery. Likely you have price lock already.

It’s still in Bremerhaven waiting for a ship.

I’ve started looking at VesselFinder and MarineTraffic to see which ROROs are arriving and departing. Does anybody know which terminals BMW uses there?

Go to Kline RORO website and download their schedule for North American deliveries from Europe. It’s updated weekly and will tell you exact dates/ports/ship names.

Also, I’d recommend getting a preapproval for loan NOW. Rates will not go down this year. I applied when my car got to port. When my car arrived at dealership (30-45 days later) the rates went up by 1.2%. My preapproval was valid for 60 days.

The 5’s are manufactured in Dingolfing and ship out of Zeebrugge, Belgium. Faster to the USA that way.

BMW Genius said the car is at Bremerhaven. I was expecting Zeebrugge, too.

My new M550i has been at the port too for two weeks. Bet they'll be on the same boat to Baltimore...whenever that will be.

Mine got to port 3/21. It got on a ship on 3/28. I didn't find out until mid-April that my car was already on the ship, so there is a good amount of delay between it getting shipped and the genius/dealer/website being updated. I checked 1-2 times weekly with Genius lol

My M550 (Skyscraper Grey) arrived at the port (Zeebrugge) on 4/25 and sailed on a vessel just 3 days later on 4/28. It was a 30 day voyage arriving at Port Hueneme, CA on 5/28. Hoping to pick it up in the next 10 days.

Just got word from my CA that my car is on the Oregon Highway. It departed Zeebrugge on 31 May and its ETA in Baltimore is 9 June. Have you gotten an update on your car?

BMW Genius and the My Garage tracker both said my car is still at the Bremerhaven port, but I’m going to go with what my CA said.

Mine still says at the port, thinking I need to call a Genius to get a better update.

As of Friday it is in transit, I’d guess they’re on the same boat. I’m picking mine up in Spartanburg.

The Oregon Highway berths at Brunswick later today, so I could have the car by the end of this week and definitely by next week. Anybody know of any stop-sales or recalls affecting the M550i?

I thought it was docking in Baltimore? My CA told me it was last week.

Guess our cars were on different boats. Mine docked in Baltimore on the 10th and should be at Spartanburg next week.

Engine oil in N63 units should be changed as often as possible, preferably every 10,000 - 12,000 km, maximum every 15,000 km. In addition, I recommend changing the oil after the first 2000 km. You will see how much metal filings are in the filter and in the oil. Look for videos on YT showing how many metal particles are in the oil inside a new engine after the first 2000km. If you want to drive your car for a long time, change the oil as often as possible.

And don't spare the money to change the oil after the first 2,000 km in a new car. I know that more frequent replacement is not covered by service packages, but it's worth paying extra for.
I’m changing the oil at 3000 miles first around. Today, I have 106 miles on the odometer. It’s never been on the highway and speed has been varied up to 60 mph with no spirited driving…until 1000 miles….then gradually add some spirited drivng.
I’ll be using Amsoil European formula 0W-30 for any between changes.
