Own a business. Write off. Bought at MSRP no markup

Will drive it for 3 years then sell it to carmax for a profit

Will make out better than someone financing/putting down a 💰 to drive it off the lot.

both lease and finance are expensive right now because they are selling the car at msrp or even with a premium on top of the msrp with no discounts.

if you purchase high and things become normal, lets say in about 3 - 5 years, then you will be hit with heavy depreciation. cars appreciating is an anomaly and not the norm!

Long story short, sedans' residuals are still decent, so it makes some sense to lease them, SUVs have much worse residuals now, so makes more sense to finance. Of course, every model has it's own rebates, so have to take those in consideration as well.

Whoa! That's absurd. Times definitely have changed. Just turned in my lease early on my '19 540i. Payments were $549. Don't think that's happening again anytime soon. For reference didn't put anything down and got an unheard deal in today's market.

Current lease on my M850 is $1400 on 97k.

I bought my 2018 M550i just shy of two years ago as a CPO car with six-year unlimited mileage warranty on a good portion of the car (not bumper-to-bumper). With a reasonable down payment, I'm paying under $650/month for a near-new car that I took possession of with just 22K miles on the odometer.
Base money factors are high to begin with, and then dealers are taking advantage of marking them up (max allowed is .00040 which equates to 1 percent) so you have people paying over 4% interest in some cases. Then the sale price is often over MSRP. All of this combines to create ridiculously high monthly lease payments.

Basically a market where leasing makes no sense, but the dealerships will fleece those who lease out of habit.

AKA the sky is blue.

If you go into a dealership clueless they’ll bleed you like a stuck pig…

Ahhh yeah, let the bmw salesperson tell us 🙄 says the guy who is fleecing people. It’s all BS, you guys can adjust the pricing you just don’t want to. I spoke to bmw dealer in west virginia who was willing to adjust the lease price $200-$300 for an m550, to almost $1k/month everything included MSRP was $92k.

Not everyone is greedy. Don’t worry, all good things come to an end so enjoy them while you can and make your commission…

No, I don't. You can't just come here and accuse a person, you or someone you know, have never dealt with. It's childish and rude. Bye now.

That is due to a quirk: the Kia and Hyundai SUVs turned out to be a huge hit and their dealers are living high off the hog on selling them above MSRP.

I never thought I'd buy a KIA in my life, but that Telluride is one sweet ass machine. It's really impressive and can actually TOW something because its transmission isnt using a belt (CVT).

I saw a Hyundai/genesis gv70 suv and it looked pretty nice.

I’m not sure why more people are not buying out their leases rather than get a car lacking features for so much more money. The interest rates are going up to curb demand and stave off inflation. Seems to me so many people are pushing through and paying the upcharges. I’m not and I’ll buy my lease unless I can get what I want at a fair price. I determine what’s fair for me. Msrp is not fair as I usually get 10 percent off plus available programs as a loyal customer. 3x in a row lease and my wife is 2x. All a variant of the 5 series.

Financing is actually incredibly cheap, or at least it was when I bought my m550 in December. 0.9% financing is almost free money.

the interest rate might have been cheap, but not anymore, plus you have to remember you are financing at msrp (if lucky) if not 5k to10k above msrp due to premium.

prior to all this nonsense, you used to get 10% off msrp. plus or minus depending on how your deal shakes out that is. additionally, their were always incentives and programs/bonuses.

I got $1750 off MSRP for BMW loyalty discount. I haven't heard a single story of someone paying above MSRP for a new build. The 0.9% financing was the incentive deal, if qualified - which is a great financing deal (especially for BMW). The starting price of a 2022 was only about $3000 more than when this car came out in 2018, and that's after 70 more HP and a bunch of updates. You weren't getting $9k off a build for one of these in 2018.

For a 2022 non-lease M550?!? What'd you promise them a child? That's absolutely unheard of...has to be a story there.
