BMW insurance

Anyone on here insured with BMW insurance & have experience of getting a windscreen replaced with them??

I’m curious if it’ll be a genuine BMW windscreen that will replace my cracked windscreen??

Sorry. Can't help you as I only bought me policy with them today. It just states the excess is £75 for an approved repaired or £100 for non approved.

Although I have heard of some OEM screen being made in Turkey and are supposed to be low quality. So be careful what you wish for. Apparently if you ask for a Pilkington. you can't go far wrong

They won't even insure me! I guess it's because I use the car for business but I do find it a little strange.

I have just come off their site to get quotes for both cars. Wife's X3 20d and my X3 M40i. Currently multi car with Admiral and 2 separate policies with BMW actually comes in cheaper - with lower excess!

Having been looking at the small print to see if there is a catch. But does seem like a good alternative! I can renew in 2 days and thinking I might give them a try.

I will need to phone them about the dreaded modifications! There is a helpful "drop list" to chose from. It looks like they only consider aftermarket extras and not any options that came with the car.

Will call to check - has anybody got any experience with this?

Thanks

It turns out that the value of my car is too high for the underwriter to insure and nothing to do with business mileage.

Very random.

Lowering the value of the car by £4K (as advised over the phone to be within their limit) brings the quote in much higher than the majority of the insurers I looked at.

Clearly it's still worth checking but alas, the dice didn't fall in my favour this time!

I didn't think entering a value counted for much. As they would look a values at the time of a claim?

I don't think it should, but if you under value the car when you take out the policy, they will never pay over that figure, even if the market value is higher. Just another way they have to fuck you over.

When I was getting quotes. Most of the site put their own value in after I'd entered the reg number.

I completely agree with you, however this is what I was told when I called them this morning. I went back online and entered a lower value by £4k and the quote appeared - albeit a lot higher than I paid from Sainsbury's in the end.
