Set Up Questions for 2020 M550
Hey everyone,
I've had my new M550 for about 2 months now, and for the life of me I cannot figure out how to preset the car to Sport mode upon start up. Right now it defaults to Comfort, and I rarely want to use that setting. I also cannot believe that I need to press the button on the high beam arm EVERY TIME I get in the car to activate the auto sensing hi-beam function! Am I missing something in my settings? Thanks! |

I believe you have to code in which mode the car defaults to upon startup. I don't believe you can code the auto high beams to always stay on.

Bimmercode needed to change default start up mode. I haven't found another way for auto high been aside from hitting button every time you drive

Agree, it won't do that unless you use third party software to change the coding. Otherwise, it is coded by BMW to default to Comfort mode, and your dealer will not be able to change that.

Concur. Basically impossible to code it to start in Sport mode -- I don't think you can do it even w/ coding software. My old M4 defaulted to Comfort -- i gave up about 6 months in hitting the M button because it was just that stupidly annoying.

Yes you can code to remember last driving mode. So, if you leave it in Sport it will remain in Sport. Same for other modes if you code. Not sure if Bimmercode can get to this depth in the bdc_body module. If not you need esys / esys Launcher.

Yes, you have to code which mode you start up in. My 2018 5 series doesn't remember the High beam either. My brand new 2020 x5 does. Wonder if it's one of the settings which automatically gets remembered by syncing a profile to the car.
