I just happened to stumble upon this post on Instagram. Now I'm not sure about these numbers being crank or at the wheels but torque definitely seems to be in NM I believe.

I did the math for everyone... 531 ft-lb. Wow. A Stage 1 Dinan tune should get that over 600 ft-lb

As I said in my earlier post - as the engine in the M550ix is the core engine for the M5 - a simple tune will be a game changer performance wise.

I don't know about the instagram account, but that paper from Heinz Car Perfomance is legit. I know where they are and they work with a professional belgian race car driver.

Any dyno is fine, for baseline to modified deltas.

Load bearing dyno's are real world.

Many cars can be super, but not many cars are supercars...

Interesting that it is basically a swap of HP/TQ from the F10 M5, since the current M5 lays down about 530hp/475tq.

Just test drove an M5 last night for the first time, and wow what a step up from my nearly stock M3. This M550i might be more than enough for me.

Supercar! So, an F10 with some,...700,...800hp,..wouldn't qualify as a supercar? What about a G30 M550xi,...with 225hp to each wheel? My guess is the total package makes a car a Supercar,...or is it,...less is More,...and a higher price makes it a Supercar?

It may not be a "Supercar" as in 2-doors,...and super low to the ground! But it would be crazy fast!,...like a Superfast Car!

My point would be,..why does the number of doors,...or limited numbers and price tag make it a 'Supercar'! If we go back a few years ago,..circa 1988,...the e28 M5 was the fastest 4-door car anywhere! I'm sure it wasn't in the same class as a Lambo Countach,...but would you rather hit the curves in the M5 or the Lambo?

I'm sure we would probably agree there wasn't a 4-door challenger no where close to the e28 M5,...nor where there many 2 door challengers either!

Note: The M5 has a 6-figure price tag!

U forgot the AMG Hammer. Killed the E28 M5 in pretty much all categories. Oh and a few Alpina B6 products.


A supercar is usually defined by a combination of looks, desirability, thrills, scarcity and performance delta relative to the rest of the automobiles of the era. IMO an M5 will never qualify, if nothing else it's just too common.

So how long till the first F10 vs M550i starts to hit the streets. It will be interesting to set the numbers on how they compare. Straight line and track. I know track is silly since these cars are luxo-barges but it will provide some interesting data points for the next gen "MX-Drive" M cars (if that's what they are calling it)

There are plenty of dyno charts on the F10. What needs to be seen is a comparison and that will show how things stack up.
