My 2020 pre LCI 530d

Hi all

I had a bit of work done to my 530d over the weekend.
I had the lip kit fitted by Mstyle in Romford and added some 20" 706M style wheels with Yoko non-run flats.

The stance is a bit aggressive as I have 15mm spaces on the back and 12mm on the front. I may remove these, but am going to give it a week to see how I get on.

Very pleased with the results so far.

I hope the pics work.....

Looks good . I'm looking to add the bodykit to mine but not sure whether to get the Maxton kit or the M Performance style one like yours.

It looks good with spacers. I have 15mm front and back.

What mods are next?

Thanks

Next will be the rear diffuser and possibly the exhaust tips.
I'd like a bit more poke too so am thinking about a DTUK tuning box.
I'd also like a gearbox flash if and when a decent one becomes available.

The issue with the spacers on mine is the new wheels already have around 15mm more offset, meaning the actual offset has been increased by 30mm on the back. The tyres also have a lip on them to protect the rim, which makes them stick out ever more.....

Actually the stance looks perfect. Dare I say you probably don't even need to lower it. Darker color cars always look so much more aggressive. Keep us posted with any updates.

It looks very nice, what make of spacers did you use? Do you feel any difference in handling with them on ?

Thanks

It looks good in the photos I agree. But the rear offset was just too silly for what I am going for.

I have removed the rear spacers and kept the front ones on so the set up is a bit more "square".

It now looks perfect to my eyes.

Hi

I used Bimecc spacers and had them fitted by these guys, along with the lip kit:

https://www.mstyle.co.uk/

You can feel the difference right away. Probably the biggest improvement is in the front end as it feels a bit sharper. However I did also have new wheels and tyres fitted at the same time, so some of this change may be down to stickier rubber.

I dont; have any vibrations or any nasty side effects.

The spacers increase the track width on an axel but also give the car a better look in my opinion. I have always use Eibach spacers. Currently running 15mm front and rear on the car with 20" OEM wheels. No issues.

I never had spacers on any car, I've asked because I've read in different places that some people with spacers had handling issues or vibrations.

In your setup, did the spacers come with their own lug nuts? and the wheel then mounted on the spacer ?

I've always used Eibach spacers and never had any issues. Have used various sizes (10mm, 12mm and 15mm) on an F30, F06 and now on the G30.

I had to buy longer wheel bolts. Standrad OEM ones are 27mm. I currently have 40mm ones on and also a 40mm TPI locking wheel bolt set.

I contacted Eibach customer services who advised me that a 40mm bolt will be fine to use with 10,12 or 15mm spacers. They said if I used a 20mm spacer then they recommend to use 45mm bolts.

Correct - spacer goes onto the hub and then the wheel bolts straight onto the spacer.

There is opinion out there regarding spacers, some like them and some are dead set against them. If I were to do very high speed runs on an airfield or drive on the autobahn, I would remove them. For day to day driving and motorway speeds I think they are fine.

Thank you very much for the clear explanation. I will definitely consider putting spacers in the spring.

The 40mm bolts that you bought, were also from Eibach ?

You're welcome.

No, they were from an engineering company. They have a shop on eBay (links below)

The size you need is M14 X 1.25

The locking wheel set is here:

Non runflats are sooo much better.

I went for yokoharma advan sport, the grip is much higher, the ride is more pliant, and there is a great deal more feel.

This is all my own perception and opinion.

Bit of a disappointing day today.
I had the car booked in at a place called Fast Lane to have the tail pipes modified to a quad setup and to have the matching gloss black diffuser added.
When I arrived they put the car up on the ramp and said something like “so we’re gonna cut the back box out and replace it with a straight pipe, but it won’t matter because it’s a diesel”.....

I said wah?.. that’s not what we agreed.

They then told me they could not just change the tips due to the angle and the only way to achieve the quad pipes was to remove the back box.

So I had the drive all the way home again without the exhaust mod and diffuser 😕

Shame as I feel the car is unfinished without this.
I’ll have to think of something else...

Quick update from the past couple of weeks.

I have fitted an M5 comp style rear diffuser along with the black exhaust trims.
The trims are temporary as I intend to have quad tail pipes fitted as soon as I can figure out a way to do this that doesn't cost the earth and also leaves the rear box in place.

Next is window tints.
