Muffler delete or axle back exhaust?
I have a 2018 G30 540i M sport. I just recently installed a downpipe and tuned it. I’m stage2 91 Octane. A guy at AutoZone was telling me it would be better to get an axle-back exhaust system versus just cutting off the muffler because supposedly that will damage the valves, has anyone that did a muffler delete noticed their valve get damaged or had to replace it?

I... Woudn't really take advice from an Autozone employee, in general. I'm not an expert but I watch A LOT of car build/mod youtube and I've never hear this. Maybe it's an extension of the age old "back pressure" argument?
Anyway, I wouldn't go straight pipes/muffler delete, either way. Sounds like garbage on these cars, imo. |

OP - it will sound like complete shit with a muffler delete and you will be "that guy" in a BMW that sounds like a Honda with a coffee can exhaust. If you are hell bent on downpipes, straight pipes, etc. Your best bet is to join the G30 Facebook Group where there are owners more your profile.

I bet she knows 1000 emoji code sayings, though, and has like 5 TikTok accounts. You know, the important things.

OP - forget the valves, I would do an axle back exhaust system so it will have a quality sound. The B58 engine is awesome and it CAN sound awesome when done properly. But to me, if you just cut off the muffler and add a straight pipe it doesn’t sound great. Do that wonderful engine right and get you an axle back system. I’m biased to the deeper tone of the Dinan system but that’s just me.
