Don't get freaked out Mark. Issues with BMW V8's come with the territory. Some severe, some easier on the wallet. I've owned many BMW V8's. From the Nakasil issue on the E32 to the timing chain guide issue on the E39 540. The worst has been the TU only and I skipped that on my F10 and went with the I6. The TU2/3 has been relatively problem free, relatively speaking. Don't beat the shit out of it and change the oil.
Thx Joe. I currently have 12k on the odometer and its had 2 oil changes. So i'm on track (somewhat) for the 5k changes. I will use www.ultimatebimmerservices.com for my next oil change and have them add the liquid moly additive. Its an indie shop thats literally 4 miles from me and they have great reviews.

Sorry to Hijack OP ! Let us know what BMW is doing for you when you get a chance.
Sorry to hijack as well.

That's a great shop. The guy who owns it knows his shit and is an enthusiast. He did an LED headlight retrofit on my buddies 235 last year. It was a bitch that involved a new wiring harness and coding. He did all the homework. Took him almost three weeks. He could definitely install your OEM Euro LCIs and do the coding😉. I'm a bad influence!

Heh. I remember the Nikasil issue all too well. Our very first BMW was a 1994 530i w/the little 3 liter V8 (paired with a manual 5 speed no less!). The "fix" they did with the software killed power and fuel mileage.

2-cans of Ceratek on the way. Probably unnecessary, but, whatever.

Do you add it 2 cans when adding the new oil? Is this something that should be done every oil change? I drive like 5k miles a year if that. I get my oil changed at the dealer since I have maintenance plan still.

Let me ask my shop Sam on how they approach it. I am sure the consumer can just add it to the oil. But they do the treatment in combination with a flush. I'm almost certain they do a flush, then they coat with ceratac, run the engine for sec and then add oil. I forget the intervals for it, I don't think you have to do the flush with every change.

Has anything come from this? I've noticed some noises that I'm going to get a video of later today. I do the normal oil change intervals at the dealer and thinking about doing a 5k at home in between now. I'm pretty up there with the miles. Do you use the full 9 quarts of oil along with the two 300ml bottles of ceratec? Always worry about doing something out of OEM spec when it comes to extended warranty claims down the line

Are you tuned as well ? How many miles on your 2019 ? Please post the video of your engine noise.

Hey all, sorry for the late update. Here is what is happening;

My local BMW dealer diagnosed the car themselves and got back to me saying that they have been in touch with BMW Canada and they can offer a 30% discount on the full motor replacement. This is of course still very expensive and apparently the discount BMW offers is based on a few criteria such as customer loyalty to BMW, service records, how many BMWs the customer has owned etc.

I have owned numerous BMWs and always had them properly serviced and maintained, just not at the dealership itself. I also have not always bought cars directly from the dealership as they do not always have what i am looking for so the 30% discount they offered was based on just 1 thing they saw in their system which is the fact that I own a 7 series purchased from them.

I explained to the service advisor that I have all service and maintenance records from my local BMW specialist mechanic, invoices for all parts bought (all original BMW parts), bill of sales for all BMWs I have purchased in the past few years and to show my loyalty to the brand I also have over 15 receipts from just the past 2 years showing that whenever i have travelled i have exclusively rented BMWs only. These rental receipts from the last 2 years total over $15,000. I was told these records will all greatly help in putting together a stronger case to BMW Canada and so I am currently gathering everything to email over to them and will then update you guys on what they offer after that.

Just a side note, for a brand new motor out of the box and full labor costs the total with a 30% discount was $33,000 CAD. If im not wrong the new engine would be from the newer model M550 as well which has a few improvements and more power due to bigger turbos.

That's more than the value of the car! Also, the engine will be like-for-like. The electronics in the G30 are quite different than the F10.

Disregard... I thought you had an F10...
