Wait. Dumb this down for me. You can now lock your dog out of your house?

...or lock him IN the house, either through an automation or from telling Siri to disable the inside door-opening sensor. He can get back in as long as the outside door-opening sensor is enabled, but not get [back] out.

Realize that OCD psycho dog goes out into the back yard and tries to bite the lighting when he hears the first distant rumble of an approaching thunderstorm, and has no fear of letting himself out at 3 AM if he smells a passing skunk in the yard. We have let him have free run of a fenced-in pen 24/7 ever since he was a puppy, and even do monthly fire drills with him so that he lets himself out and goes to the far end of the pen whenever the smoke detector beeps.

Unfortunately, there are a few OCD triggers that make us need to keep him inside for his own safety. With a little custom programming, I'll be able to automate this instead of trying to beat the little white monster to the dog door when he's in full OCD knucklehead mode.....

Your dog needs medication. And I am not a veterinarian.

My mind and body work together well, in a time when that is becoming more and more of a privilege.

Our vet gave us an anti-anxiety prescription (doggy Xanax?) for when we travel. Give the 15-pound terror one 25mg pill, they said. We were on the road for about an hour when it kicked in. He stood up in the Mighty Dodge's jump seat to bark, and I saw that it was going to be an ear-splitter because he was winding up every muscle from his tail forward to force that bark out. His mouth opened up, and the only thing that came out was a yawn! He then flopped on the seat, and didn't move all day, that night, and until noon the next day. My DW had to force him to take a brief walk at a rest area, and carried him in/out of the hotel. He wouldn't eat/drink a thing for two days. We both honestly thought that he was going to die from that one pill.

On the return trip the next week, she gave him 1/4 pill as we left. Even that was too much. Needless to say, no more doggy Xanax for him.....

My pup is quite a bit bigger but we give him tramadol. My wife is a vet tech and shes OK with it in small doses. Usually when she takes him to work for the day (once a week) to keep him calm around the other workers and animals that are sick.

Do you know what drug it was?

Got rear ended today pretty hard. Someone not paying attention hit me while I was sitting in line at a red light. My car *may* be repairable, but the left rear wheel is knocked out of alignment. The other driver did swerve at the last second to avoid a direct hit, but it was still a pretty nasty jolt. Could have been worse if it had been a direct hit. So it's a good day because there were apparently no injuries. Everything else is just paperwork and vehicle repair.

That is a bummer. Glad you're okay. That asshat should've been paying attention, instead of playing with his phone, or the radio, or whatever distracted him from seeing the cars stopped in front of him.

No clue. All that I know was that it was for kennel anxiety, and 25mg. It's her dog, and she 100% takes care of it.

FWIW, I lost my dog in 1975, when he jumped out of our family car and ran into a car wash in the middle of the winter. (I was on an overnight trip, and have a hard time believing this story.) Never had or wanted a dog after that.....

I feel like there might be some on these forums who'd happily assist you in donating your blood, downside is that they aren't planning on using needles or saving the blood either for that matter.

Ah well...halfway there I suppose.

Despite Frontier assigning ALL new IPs to my connection yesterday, when they had assured me the existing IP would remain (so I don't have reconfigure my VPN tunnel) they were at least able to revert the changes.

Initially they told me since the previous IP was a legacy Verizon range, they couldn't restore. I had no access at the time to the remote firewall, couldn't connect with my USB-serial cable. Not that I could program CLI on that to change it anyways. SOMEHOW my support contract on the firewall was not renewed in July, so I had no support.

Today, they restored the original IP, and the link came back all by itself <yeah>

Jumped on the scale 1 week after deciding enough was enough and 276 pounds at 6ft tall is ridiculous. It's taken 10 years to go from 200 to 276, slooow burn.

Today, 268. 68 to go.

We got stuck at a RR crossing and waited for a fairly long train. It was a good day because the train was double-stacked with shipping containers. Good to see them moving again.

I used to hear 4 or 5 or more freight trains go through town since I was a a kid. Now, all I hear is passenger trains, maybe twice a day.
