Cadillac makes an excellent product in the Blackwing series. If a few parts sneak in from the GM parts bin, so be it. BMW makes an excellent product as well. They each excel in different ways.
Steve, I don’t know about you but BMW NA really takes care of me. I still receive my 10% off MSRP on any new BMW besides the two new CS models and Alpinas while others grossly overpay their local Ford and Kia dealers. They service my heavily modified BMWs without any further questions. Try to do that with your local Cadillac dealer. I also get regularly invited to the BMW events on my local Palm Beach International Raceway, obviously for free. Nope, I really can’t complain about BMW NA - top customer care.

I do agree that the Blackwings are great cars. Too bad they decided to make only a tiny number of those and they are all sold out. Cadillac’s motto: watch the Blackwings, and now go buy the boring XT5 crossovers.

Numbered First Edition is sold out. Regular production allocations are available. Although just like any in demand car right now, orders are 3-6 months out because of supply chain.

I have been burned by American cars. They just don’t stand up quality wise over time. These look good and get the General public excited. I just cannot fight the feeling I’d be screwed 5-20k mikes down the line.

GM needs to focus on quality to win me over and the only way they get my $ is to put their money where there mouth is and offer an industry leading warranty or guaranteed $ trade back.

I can think of a particular BMW that GM parts-bin parts got snuck in on...

Exactly. Lost count how many times AMG fanboys lost their sh1t and said magazines where paid off by BMW.

Hence, R/T mentioning the M2CS as being the latest gen to match old school BMW. They all said they believe more is coming from BMW. For them the current M4 isn't what they like, but acknowledge its quickness and abilities.

Some media and BMW fanboys are trying to say new acceleration numbers come at a cost of losing the "non-measurable nonsense". The "non-measurable nonsense" is why R/T was drooling over the Blackwing.
To be honest, I rarely read these reviews so maybe I missed something. My opinion is that it really depends which BMW you're talking about. I own an M2C and had a chance to drive a G80 Comp with Carbon Buckets, and in no way would I call that car souless. At the same time, I don't expect a car that big and heavy to drive like an E36 M3 either. I will say I found the steering response of the car to be very impressive, especially with 3 other people in the car.

Sometimes, it just doesn't make sense to compare apples to oranges, regardless of what that badge says on the trunk.

What's so cool is that despite it being a very small market for these, they made them anyway! Love it!

I just watched Joe's review, he is pretty funny. Very impressed with this car but would never own it unless I live where it does not snow.

Yeah, the ground clearance on those Blackwings is my concern too. I had my M235i acting like a snow plow on numerous occasions despite having a decent 140mm ground clearance. But the locking diff on the Caddy should help in the snow, compared to the one-wheel-drive in my Bimmer.

Anyway it seem to be a moot point at least in Canada, Ontario, because those Blackwings are all sold out, and the dealer doesn't know if there will be next year's production, or if that's the end of the line. Keeping my fingers crossed..

Man oh Man, I'm loving the CT4-V! Not only from a visual perspective, but performance perspective as well. The twin turbo 3.6 liter V6 (472 hp) has plenty of power for me. Also love the fact that it comes with a manual transmission.

I live in the North east which is full of traffic, pot holes and iffy weather for 4 months so for me it would not be worth it.

So do I (PA)

Worth what? Enjoying all the awesomeness & money spent? They are made to be driven. It's like driving any other car in the winter. You don't have to floor it at every light. I slap it in Eco mode if it is raining or snowing.

Dedicated winter rims with snow tires on my Hellcat. If the world ever gets real with car pricing again, I will give a serious look at the Blackwing once that normal GM depreciation hits

Good for you, some folks are a little more risk aversive and anal about the condition of their babies in the winter. I would not drive a beast like that with a manual transmission in the winter here

Manual transmission is much better with a RWD in the winter than auto IME, much easier to feather the clutch to get going, with auto it spins the wheels much too easy.
