Intakes installed. However, they slightly block the active grilles from fully opening throwing a CEL. Looks like theyre coming out.

This is what it lools like before I buttoned it up. Have no idea why the pic is turning sideways.

I’d be curious if temp drop between this and the new CTS in bay intakes. Guess I could log my temps with the JB4. Also, Burgers short stacks from the M5 fit the 20+

How you like the noise? This things makes ten different noises. Low boost let off sounds really neat! High boost is “pshhhh”. I saw someone offered BOV just can’t recall who it was.

I think the 2020+ intake with larger turbos is a much sleeker design. It does not block the radiator airflow and is definitely much easier to install. I doubt the claims of 20HP increases though.

I think intakes will boost some hp but not much. I didnt really get em for that. I just wanted my filters out of the engine bay getting real cooler air. The sound is cool. Sounds like a blowoff valve almost. Think it will look better once I get the grilles out.

Mine is a 2020. Pipes just go directly down past the radiator vesus routing to the back of the engine bay and forward. You either want front mounted or you dont really. If I was gonna keep them in the engine bay, I wouldve just ripped the carbon filters out and in put drop ins. The stock air box set up isnt bad.

Looks great! The air filters seem very far from the shutters. I'm surprised you had to remove the shutters. Anyway, were you able to do the install without removing the bumper cover? It looks like you were able to do it by just going in from the top.

Bumper got completely unbolted but was able to avoid disconnecting sensors. Just braced it up. The filters hit the first tab in the grille.

Nice job BTW. You're obviously very mechanically inclined. Post up a video of how it sounds when you can.

So do the braces that were on the original intake pipe not go back on?

Appreciate it. Been a minute since I worked on something but its fun teaching my son how to turn wrenches. All I can say is youtube bro. Watched the video of the front bumper removal in german. Didnt understand a single word so I had to watch it a few times and pause when necessary. 😆

Wish I could get my hands on a service manual for this thing.

Definitely prefer the look with the shutters. The car looks more "complete." Like someone mentioned, the look inside is not really pretty.

I had the RKTunes intakes on the M5, and this is what they sound like (with Eisenmann exhaust.) I'm sure the sound is very similar.

Is this eisenmann a full cat back with down pipes or just axel back? Sounds nasty.

Our solution is to save the custom cafd file to your computer and you can remove them in the dmes so the car doesn’t request cel. Downside is you have to flash everytime to keep them off. Now if your not tuned you won’t need to have the file saved to your computer it will forever be off
I don't follow? I had the active shutters removed and the check engine light coded out. I flashed my car 30 times and the check engine light never came back on?

How did you get the light coded out? Are you able to share who did it if you didn't do it yourself?

No you cannot do it yourself. You need to find somebody with the ISTA software. I would Google "BMW coding near me".

See if you have someone by you, because the software can't be done remote, you need to physically have them hook their laptop up with the ISTA software and they can do anything.

so it looks like you just removed the pieces will it throw a code or is there something you did to it as well to prevent that?
