from a 530xi, it is an upgrade.

however the 6 is a pic and is really heavy. you do not feel the 360hp at all!

but since it is for your sister, i am sure she wont be driving it like she stole it

Nice car, but it's will be outdated in tech and style as the new body style comes out next year (not sure if that is important to her or not).

Not really, she wants to get an older version because she can get a good deal on one most likely.

NIce upgrade and is definitely faster than the 530 by a long shot. Very different car going for a sedan xi to a rwd vert, tell her to leave it in the garage in the winter or get some all seasons on it - I think all 650's came with summer only tires and it won't be much fun to drive in bad weather!

The 6 series rear seats are worthless. It's really only a two person car unless absolutely necessary and for short trips to cram two people in the back.

The 650i convertible is a terrific car. Comparing it to a 530xi however is apples to oranges. One is a family sedan, the other a luxury convertible sporty coupe.

Thanks, Mike.

Why from a sedan to a coupe? Does she need the back seat ? HAHA, j/k. Really though, I think the 6 series is one of the best looking vehicles on the road, but for the price, and looks, I think Id maybe look at a E550 coupe, or C63 amg. Maybe an SL Benz? Dont get me wrong, 6 is sick, but there are other coupes she could consider in that price IMO.

Just have her go test drive a bunch. But thats a heck of an upgrade. +1 on the apples to oranges though. That was like me upgrading from a 4th gen Maxima to E92, lol.

She hates Mercedes because she thinks they're boring to drive.

What exactly does she want to upgrade?

Rear window on 6 cab is really small. Styling is close to outdated, IMO.

What about an M? Or 550? Or Audi S5? Or Lexus SC? And there's always the P-car.

She should go for it, why not? I think the current 6er looks great, certainly better than the new E Coupe. Should be able to get a great deal on one considering the economy and the fact that it's the "oldest" car in BMW's current lineup.

Has she looked at the new Z4 at all? Should take it for a ride, at least.

She LOVES the 6. Been wanting it for about 4 years now.
