G30 heat retention

My 2018 g30 540i takes forever to cool down, so I avoid parking in the garage in summer. I don't have overheating issue but it just takes forever to cool down.
Anybody notice same heat retention ?

Maybe its the coolant ? My 2015 X5 with similar inline 6 (N55 vs B58) doesn't take forever to cool down.

It is a design feature of the G30 that it retains heat so well. This allows the car to get up to temperature quicker and retain it longer so you have a warmer engine between short trips.

Better for the engine and more fuel efficient too.

I kinda figured it was by design, but its crazy long cool down.

This will give you an idea as to why and how, it has been mentioned on here many times, and as Logical states above - it is a design choice made to make things last longer and perform better for longer, as well as reduce wear.

Good to know. Thank you for the information.

But living in hot and humid summers seems unfavorable for that feature. Oh well, gotta live with it.

Thanks again.

The F10 (and possibly previous generations) also do this. If I need/want it to cool down (like for waxing or checking tire pressure) I just pop the hood. You could try that.

As was already said, popping the hood cools it off.

I live in Memphis TN. It’s hot and humid. Not a lot of places in the US I will let complain to me about heat AND humidity combined (Louisiana comes to mind and the MS delta).

I’ve had a summer with a 2018 540 and now a summer with a 2020 M550. I park in the garage and never had an issue. Frankly, the garage is still “cooler” than sitting out in the sun.
