Helmets FTW! Best investment if you're skiing or boarding. 2 years ago I skiied over some snow that was covering a small void. My skiis broke through and stopped instantly. I didn't. I flew about 60 feet before landing on my back, knocking myself out and tearing my rotator cuff. If I hadn't been wearing my helmet it would have been far worse.
I'd always been curious about how fast I ski and had a gps thing with me that day. Max speed on that run was 96 km/h. |

just got a new board and bindings this year too. gotta love snowboarding, expecially if ur hittin the mountain as soon as the lifts open. if you get a nice sunny morning, bein one of the first the carve up the runs is absolutely awesome.
and don't forget the helmets either. i was at MT. Rose with my cousins last week and my older cousin blacked out after catchin an edge goin toeside. he slammed hard w/o a helmet and was out for a couple minutes. some scary stuff can happen out there. |

Go boarding every year. Headed to Lake Tahoe in a couple of weeks. Used to go boarding in the Alps several times a year. Gonna miss it, but I guess I'll take what I can get being back in the states. Getting the winter set-up put on the car tomorrow. Can't wait. Bruises and scrathes are nothing, wait till you break a rib, that's pain.

I'm heading out this Saturday too, some local mountains. Nothing special, but better than nothing.

Boarding is for the gays! He he he j/k
Boarding is fun just wish local mountains had better snow like fresh pow, always could use it for schralping the gnar, but then again the park at Bear Mountain is pretty damn sick..... Wish I could join you Sara in Utah, if you dig it so much you really should buy a board since 55 a day can add up in rentals, before you know it you have spent the same on rentals as a complete setup. |

If you're just starting, you could probably find a setup for about $500.

Went boarding for the first time ever the first week of January in Breckenridge. Hurt my back the first day, wasn't sure if it was from a fall or getting myself back up after a fall. Toughed it out, but only made it out 3 out of the 5 days we had passes. Didn't want to over do it just in case and make my back worse. Toeside was the only thing giving me trouble. Can't wait to go back and perfect it. I second the helmet sentiments. I was practicing my balance by attempting 360 spins down the hill, board caught a rut, flipped back and hit my head. I rented a helmet next time out. |

That's so weird. Everyone I know had trouble with toeside at first but for me it was the easiest thing lol. Heelside on the other hand was a bitch to get right. i couldn't turn left haha

I'm regular. I picked up healside fairly quickly. I think I was so focused on my back and making sure I fell a certain way that I couldn't concentrate on just boarding. |
