To grill change or to not grill change...
So my car has the cerium front grill, i like it because it's cohesive with the rest of the cerium parts on the rest of the car, and is essentially "m550i" exclusive.
buttt, I feel the black grill is definitely a lot more polarizing, and I do see a lot of M550i's have the dealer installed black grills, and it still matches the cerium parts. what do you guys think? |

Did you ever hear the quote" Don't fix it unless it is broken". Find better things to spend your money on.

Forgot to mention, if you go with the black grill, consider changing your mirrors to white.

Just my vote....I love the cerium. My car is black, and I loved the symmetry with the trim and the 668Ms the moment I saw it, that's what really sold the black car for me. Never had a black car before. Couldn't walk away from it in the showroom. But, not sure how it looks on a white car. And, it is your car, so do what moves you.

I have had my 550 for a couple of years now. I did not care for the cerium and saw little "prestige" in this cosmetic addition to an otherwise earnest car. I had a lot of changes made at time of delivery including painting some parts. All of the great Bimmerposters do not need me to point out all the changes. I matte wrapped it too. The wrapper accidentally returned the M550 badge on the back that was quickly removed. I recommend making the car perfect for your taste and not listen to too many pros and cons. I would imagine all of my changes would probably approach $2k ignoring the wrap, wheels and carbon fiber side mirrors. Enjoy making it your own!

I do NOT have an M550, just the lowely 540 with M package. I would never change out the cerium, I think it's classy personally. I almost thought about changing out my grills, mirror caps etc for cerium, but I didn't want people to think I'm a poseur. not sure why I should care what people think though. again, the cerium looks great to me but it's your car so do with it what you want. can't really go wrong.

I totally agree with the last two posters. Do what you like with your car, it's your car and your money. I took delivery of my 2020 M550 in Rosso Corsa last Oct. I changed all the cerium trim with gloss black and did the mirror caps and rear spoiler in carbon fiber. Why did I do that? Because I think that gloss black goes better with my red. Undecided as yet on my 668M wheels for replacement/paint/or leave. I've said this before, but it bears repeating.
Whatever floats your boat! |

Here is my black on black with the grill. I didn't have a choice on the grill as this was part of the spec I was able to find. Was apprehensive on how it would look before delivery, but absolutely love it and wouldn't want it any other way.
I believe it all depends on the color of your car. On my Sapphire Black - the black looks mean View post on imgur.com |
