Yes, and it's a sick feature! I have it on my 2018 M550 for reference.

Is this option (Auto High-Beam) same as "High-Beam Assist" (5AC) in 540i that came with Adaptive LED Headlight (552) option?

With adaptive headlights and this feature turned on, in two plus years I have never been flashed.

I'm not 100% sure, they are both "included" on my build. See the image below. I think you need both honestly for it to "assist".

You should have it. Look at the end of the headlight stalk and you'll see a couple of buttons. Press the lower button and you'll see a newly illuminated 'idiot' light on the dash that looks like a headlight with an A next to it.

Just put the last 7 digits of your VIN on the website mdecoder dot com and you will see the option codes.

yes...you have it. You Maroney shows both automatic headlights and adaptive lights. What I find is that you have to set the light switch at the auto setting and press the button on the stalk to get everything working.

This is how auto high beam (aka high beam assist) works in the US market:

I just wish there was a way to code the feature to be on at all times. I haven't found a way to do that yet.

I agree. I can't figure out why BMW makes it something you have to press. It makes more sense to just have it always on with a turn off switch if someone doesn't want to use it.

Strangely, on some iDrive 7 models it is on all the time but in iDrive 7 ‘lite’ in the G30 it isn’t. I had a loan 840d and once selected it was always on and on another forum an X5 driver said the same thing.

US regulators are working on the adaptive lights. Give them a decade or so and they may catch up with 2017.

Haha I saw, Summer 19 NHTSA finally started doing some testing for US Market, considering how awful most headlights are rated across all manuf. in US I'm surprised there's so much idiocy around not allowing a feature like this.

Over the winter we drove to Breckendridge CO and that was the only time this feature had any value to me... too bad we were in our 4x4 while 540 was sitting at home

personally i think this feature has little value

In over two years of ownership, and always using the feature when driving at night or in the dark, I have never been flashed. It works! It increases safety as you are not constantly going back and forth between brights and regular lights and many people just give up using their brights and leave their regular lights on all the time reducing their vision.

But...if it doesn't work for you...don't use it.

It works exceptionally well, but I have to agree that it has no value to me because I live in the Houston suburbs. I very seldom drive where there is no traffic coming at me for more than a few seconds.
