Remote start on 2020 M550i

Just took delivery this week of my new 2020 M550i. It has the new iDrive 7. Does anyone know if I can carry it too the dealership and have remote start added?

I was recently told by my Scottish friend that European emissions standards specifically forbid remote start, which would be consistent with their stand on ASS being difficult to disable (without third party coding). Congrats on your new car! Love my M550.

Eurostart

I just had a Eurostart EUR-BRS6 remote system with a Compustar RFX-P2WR3-SS - PRO 2-Way 2-Mile G15 Remote installed in my 2020 M550i xDrive. Although expensive, it solves the problem without cutting or splicing factory wiring.

I was quoted around $1,000 for the same system for my X3. I opted not to get it for both the price, and the fact that I was told that opening the door or pressing the brake would shut it off, then you have to start the car again, and I wanted something with a seamless handoff.

The new 3 series has remote start available. I know the 5 series is a bit older design, but it seems odd to me that the 3 has it and the 5 doesn't. Hopefully they will add it when the do the LCI revision (next year).

Minnesota weather sucks; somewhat of a "must have" for me to survive this climate.

I wouldn't necessarily say that disabling A/S/S requires 3rd-party coding. Turning it "On" or "Remember Last Setting" are just values that are already in the vehicle's config. I know what you're trying to say, but just wanted to clarify that for others.

I die in south Florida in black on black when it's 100 out, humid and sunny, it's torture getting into black cars. My individual silver M5 was about 20 degrees cooler. Wish you could just build cost into the car initially, would make it a no brainer option for sure.

OK, to be specific: you can do it with BMW software, but it requires a permission code which they will not give you. Therefore, you can only do it with third party software such as Bimmercode, etc.

How do you do it thru bimmercode ??
I've looked thru and can't find anything at all in the app or support

In the Control Units screen select Front Electronic Module (FEM_01).

Under the AUTO START STOP FUNCTION heading there are three options.

I keep "ASS off by default" and "ASS function memory" set to active. Because I never use ECO mode I don't worry about the third.

Ohhh. I was thinking you could code remote start! Yes I have the auto start stop set to stay on last setting already. Sorry miscommunication

I wish!

Here in Sacramento it's normal for summer days to hit triple digits (but it's a dry heat!). On those hot days I use BMW Connected App to "Ventilate Now" before heading to the parking lot (when I remember). I also use the fob to roll the windows down while walking toward the car. I also keep the window screens up during the summer months. All this helps quite a bit regarding comfort on entry.

That said, it's still not as nice as the remote start on our (non-BMW) SUV. Just have to remember to turn the A/C all the way up before parking the car!

You can't code remote starting with BimmerCode or any on vehicles that didn't already support it from the factory. There are third-party solutions that involve a relay.

I wish, too! So nice when I golf with my Son and he starts his truck as we finish our after-round beer. Truck is nice and comfy when we get there. Best I can do with my M550 is roll down the windows as I approach with my golf bag....small price to pay, though. Would much rather drive an M550 than an F150!

I am planning on having this done to my car. How is your experience on it so far?

But on my 530e I can use the phone app to turn on the AC, not just ventilate. It runs it off the hybrid battery. So when I finish the 17th hole, I take out my phone and use the BMW app to turn on the AC. Even with 110F temps in greater Phoenix, the car is comfortable when I get in.
