I've just checked it and engine oil level measuring is fine, i dont get any errors.

The only issue i have is speedo does not read higher than 263km/h although accelaration is continued. Doesn't really bother me though.
Stock cut fuel at 260km/h

I flashed bootmod3 yesterday and after a short while got the "unable to check oil quantity" issue. I reckon the car check the engine oil level every 30 minutes-1 hour and the BM3 team does not set up the checking condition properly in the code.
Raised a ticket. But it is still annoying because even they fix this time then you can't flash another map later. The error code will definitely come back.
The ultimate solution will be put the fix in OTS map.

Just wondering what happen if you flash with another OTS map after the fix? Will the error code come back?

Nope. Once they update your code, the error is fixed permanently. It’s so worth it.

Quick question, do you need to use car battery charger when they remote coding your car to fix the error?

Some updates: BM3 customer support remote coding my car on Friday and fix the issue. They seems to have some experience and the real coding process (using s-sys and update some code) only takes about 5-6 minutes .
The error code is now gone.
Thanks very much to this thread!! otherwise I absolutly dont know what to do!!

I just got my 540 literally like a hour ago and i like it alot but how come the exhaust is barely hearable from the inside unlike the other 440s or 340s? Is it cuz the 540s more luxury car they tamed down the exhaust notes?
Would flashing the car make the exhaust more noticable louder when starting up and idling and WOT?
Thank you

One reason is definitely that the 5’s are so well insulated. I hear very little outside noise compared to our 3-series.

That said, Bootmod3 definitely allowed me to make my 540i a bit louder. But if you want to really hear it, I think you’ll need to modify your exhaust system. Or roll down your windows. 😉

Seconded. My 540i with the stock exhaust was dead quiet even at WOT. Cracking the window helps you hear the exhaust/engine a bit more, but still is a far cry from my old 3. However, after I got an aftermarket exhaust (Remus), it really woke it up. Now even with all windows up in comfort mode, I can clearly hear the beautiful exhaust/engine note when I get on the throttle. I don't think the tune will make your car louder unless you want more burbles, startup roar or always having the exhaust flap open in sport mode (which will increase noise).

I flashed mine about 3 weeks ago for first time and I have not had any issues with it. Drives like it should have from the factory. Very smooth acceleration with a nice pull. I did noticed it seems to have a better pull if you flash the free Mppk first and then flash stage 1 oppose to going from stock to stage 1.

As I continue following various threads as I contemplate a Bootmod3 purchase, the latest info I have been reading has given me cause for concern.

Apparently BMW is taking further steps to lock DME such that it can't be unlocked through the OBD2 port. Cars manufactured March 2019 or later are potentially more difficult for flash tuning with products like Bootmod3. There are now even recent reported cases of remote software upgrades happening to some M340i owners that have tightened the software lock on DME.

And what of older cars that come in for routine service, will they then receive a software update that kills their Bootmod3 functionality?

Maybe the DME tuner vendors will find a way to catch up their software, but this scenario is begining to resemble a cat and mouse game much like Apple vs iPhone jailbreakers. And the ability for BMW to remote software update newer vehicles probably gives them the leg up.

Will we now be relegated to piggyback tunes only?

Here is a table of vehicles that shipped with the newer software:

hey sorry to bother you, i also have a 2018 540, which i did a mppk tune from bm3, and my oil reset light came on. i tuned it back to stock and took it to the dealer and they fixed it, i tuned back and got the same oil light issue. i left it like that for a couple of month, and i just tuned back to stock and took it to the dealers and they flagged my dme. did you fixed your issue, if so how?,

I recently flashed a BM3 map and ran into the oil level warning issue. I contacted them and they set up a remote screen share session like others have said. They were able to fix the issue in under an hour.

Flagged the DME? Does it mean your potential warranty is voided now?
