G31 LCI trunk closes loudly

The automatic tailgate closes really really loud, like you are smashing the trunk on an ‘84 opel kadett, is it the way it’s supposed to be, has been bothering me for quite a while?

Doesn’t sound right to me. Mine closes with a few clicks as it locks

Once it IS closed, is it flush ie it’s not out of alignment ?

Don’t know what you mean by “really loud” the tailgate on my G31 closes with a firm sounding clunk

What is your model year (or build date)? If your G31 can be coded...you can change the parameters to slow down the tailgate so that it doesn't slam shut with an annoying thud (as if someone is slamming it shut like an idiot).

This has been a sore subject across multiple platforms that have a tailgate. Here's an old thread on an F15/F16 (X5/X6) forum that deals with this problem and fixes it by changing the last few parameters to slow down the tailgate as it nears closing: https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1789147

If your G31 is codeable, you'll need to look for the closing parameters for your model or a Touring model...which may be slightly different than one of the SUV models.

Good luck.

Yeah it closest fast, will look for the parameters to code it, it’s an audible clunk as if someone hit it hard, there is no sound if it’s misaligned or something just imagine closing a big tailgate really hard. It’s a 2023 g31

Just ran across a thread about this topic on BimFest that had resurfaced…and post #24 (from Oct/2023) gave the coding parameters for a G31. Unfortunately that forum member didn’t list his model year…but did leave coding parameters…hopefully they work for you model year application.

Here’s a direct link to page 2 where post #24 should be found if you scroll down to it: https://www.bimmerfest.com/threads/h...page-2#replies
