Yeah, the G80 is worlds better than a base 3.

I'm kind of in this camp, but I'm also in the camp of feeling guilty and not owning up to what I did. I'd probably tell them, mostly because I would presume that 99 times out of a hundred, they'll say "don't worry about it". This is what happens to loaners, they often get the crap beat out of them.

Mostly I'd tell them just so that the next guy or gal doesn't get unfairly dinged for it.

I have also been known to return and swap loaners that smelled bad. Of course, that was back in the day when they had plenty of them. They are often not cleaned well, and as I mentioned, abused by the loanees.
I wonder if the dealer felt guilty about fucking up Mark's car.(HerkHealer)?…. Took his car in for new tires, next thing you know it needed a wheel repair. Then a few weeks later, he finds a surprise on the passenger side rocker panel. Looked like someone put a fire out on it with a chain….. The also took it on a 12 mile test drive (hell ride) for new tires?…nuts. From my past dealings with many dealers, I wouldn't feel guilty about anything. They have insurance for these sort of things.

A couple weeks back, some poor guy brings his M3 (I think) and the dealer totaled it. There's a post somewhere. What wreck that was.
Yeah I remember all of those. They called this morning and said they wanted to test drive mine before I get it back. Because of Mark's ordeal, I took a screenshot of my car's mileage on the bmw app after I dropped it off. They took it on a 29 mile test drive this morning! That seems like a lot, but maybe I don't know what I'm talking about. And still haven't let me know that it's ready or that they're still working or anything.
I'd say 29 miles is excessive. I wonder how they justify that? Unless they put a brand new engine in it. I guess it depends on the nature of the repair. Time to bring that loaner to the swamp and do some serious off-roading in retaliation.

I had some sick friends back in the day…in college. If they got a loaner, before they would bring it back, they would crack open a can of tuna and sneak it under the center council. You want to talk about smell…my god.

Other friends would rent cars Like they owned and if the car had low mileage, they would swap their old parts for the new parts. Crazy stuff. Wheels, tires, spark plugs, spark plug wires, batteries. You name it. The 80s! We didn't have smart phones and social media to keep us occupied

Ridiculous! Get a FitCamx dashcam installed. Catch them beating on our Cars!

As for the rental, i'd definitely just sand and paint or put some plastic restore on it and be done. These Dealerships screw us all over in every way possible. Screw them back.

I definitely wouldn't mess with the damage. That's drawing attention to it and admitting guilt.

Basically. But I did turn around and go back because I forgot to put gas in it, which is something I verbally agreed I would do (even though they gave it to me 4/5 full). He wouldn't let me pay for the gas and said he'd take care of it. Top notch service the whole way.

He realized he used 30 miles of your gas, so he thought it was a breakeven. Just joking

Haha maybe so. The SA really was top notch the whole way. We bitch a lot about dealers, as a group here, so it's only right to give him full credit. The only negative was the shape of the loaner, to begin with, and the attitude from the kid at the loaner desk. Neither of those are things that I consider under my SA's control. We're in a world where it's hard to find cars and hard to find good employees. I'll chalk it up to me being lucky to have a loaner at all and them having to take what they can get in some of the positions they have to fill.

That's great news that you are satisfied. It's really all about the service advisor for the most part. I drive 30 miles to a dealer when I have three dealers within 10 miles because of my service advisor. These are the people who will go to bat for you to get stuff covered and also can discount a big bill. She also always comes through with a loaner for me in real time in these days of a three week wait for one. The dealer itself has changed ownership several times over my 30 years of buying cars there and having it serviced there. I've had my trials over the years with big jobs not being performed correctly, namely a valve job on a seven series that was never right after.

Treat your service advisor right and it will pay dividends. She's been my SA for 20+ years. I get her a bottle of something every Christmas. She's also a smoking hot blonde with a nice boob job. Worth the trip.

Yes, I've seen you mention this in previous posts. Nothing but good experience with SA's so far. I am already planning to do something at the holidays, it's a nice touch. Maybe bring some donuts with me to the next oil change. You're right - when you find the people than can make a difference and they are good to you, it's wise to be good to them!

My name ends in "Junior" and my 5 year old son is the III. I also work in a small business with my father. I spend almost every day looking at my kid and thinking "holy shit, he's me" and looking at my dad and thinking "holy shit, I'm him".

Nothing mechanical, really. But I got it back. Looks great. And y'all were right.
So you just brought it back without mention?
Basically. But I did turn around and go back because I forgot to put gas in it, which is something I verbally agreed I would do (even though they gave it to me 4/5 full). He wouldn't let me pay for the gas and said he'd take care of it. Top notch service the whole way.
And to thank them you deflowered their car, YOU MONSTER!

Jk haha, I would of returned that fucking thing back on a flat bed with zero guilt. They dgaf about those cars. The way I look at it is so long as it isn't damaged in a big way, they keep it moving.

After reading most of these responses, I wonder what ever happened to ethics.

I must of missed the part where someone killed a hooker.

Bringing it back and saying nothing isn't exactly unethical. Let the dealer determine if it's something they want to discuss with the client. I mean he scratched the lower valance, this shit happens to every car at some point. A lot of drivers would not have even looked after the pothole hit. If the dealer is doing their job, they inspect and notice at drop off. If they don't, let them find it and mark it as existing for the next guy taking the loaner.

As I noted in my first post, the "What would you do?" moment is "IF" they call you out on it and lying is an option. I pass no judgement on what the choice would be here.
Got it.
Pothole is code for hooker.

But I agree, it's a fielders choice. On one of my lease turn in's the guy missed the golf sized dent on the quarter panel (very obvious, I thought). I said "hey, I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth but you missed the dent here" "oh, oh boy!" He said. I took it on the chin for $550 and went about my way.

I actually was replying to the ethical statement and F'd up. I was too distracting by laughing at your hooker comment. Yeah, I definitely would crack open the wallet if someone (not BMW) was out money.
Trust me, I am with you.

Edited above.

I know, but I can't pass the opportunity to be an ass clown.
