Just picked-up a demo G30 545e Xdrive. It has the high-beam assist hardware and BMW want €225 to turn it on.
Anyone know whether Bimmercode could throw the switch on this for me and get it working?

Soon we will have to pay every time we start our cars. --Bob

Yes, this feature can be turned on with Bimmercode. Let me know if you need the instructions.

I really disagree with this subscription model that they are now starting to use.

This isn't subscription though as this is one time payment. Still sucks though.

Mercedes charges $1,200 per year to have EQS with a bit more power.

I truly hope these coding leaches do pay for all this advertising through the forum.

Coding leaches?

So if a legitimate product gets mentioned through “word of mouth” in a positive context on an open/public forum….that’s a negative thing?

Just curious because “leach” comes across as a negative connotation…and “do pay for” comes across as punitive. A company that develops an app that allows access to your car’s control modules to make changes to selectable parameters…and makes it an easy user-interface that even someone with a low IQ can utilize are somehow “blood suckers” & should be penalized because users pass on its usefulness to others?

It would tick me off if the original owner had the feature and paid for it (as an option or in a package). If so, BMW is trying to collect twice for the same thing. If not, I don't have a problem with BMW charging to turn it on. It is almost like a favor: including the hardware on the original sale but not activating it because the owner chose not to pay for it. Now subsequent owners will have the same option the original owner had.

This will be embedded in the vehicle order with some coding. Bimmercode cannot change the VO, you can probably do it with Esys.

The subscription fees will encourage me to shop other brands of vehicles. Are heated seats part of this subscription service?

If manufactures keep up with this new Capitalism type of vehicle ownership, the value of cars who arent required to pay monthly fees to have Heated Seats will skyrocket.
This is just ridiculous. What in the actual FFFF is going on here?
They make enough money of us already IMO.

Of course not, I was referring to people who just stalk these forums and grab every chance to offer their coding services via direct messages for a fee. Maybe I misunderstood previous message but looked to me like the guy wanted to charge the information how to code something via bimmercode. If I misunderstood the message I apologize. But I still think advertising coding services shouldn't be allowed, or if it is, it should be charged at least.

I'd hold off on that high beam assist. IMO it is very hit and miss. Whenever I'm traveling on motorways or hilly B roads the oncoming traffic is always flashing me to turn off my high beams. The high beam assist kicks in after a few seconds but only after the oncoming traffic gives me a blast of their high beams in disagreement.

The worse ones are truck drivers on motorways. The windshield sensor does not pick up on their lower headlights because of the median barrier on the road, then they give me a huge flash with their upper lights, which can be blinding. I've stopped using the high beam assist because of this.

Ah, okay….I didn’t pick up on the context bolded in your quote above…which is what made me curious…thanks for the clarification.

I concur. My experience with it is mixed as well and it is something I would certainly not pay for.

This nickel and dime stuff is just bullshit. Someone at BMW who thought of this needs to be kicked in the ass and told to find a new job.

If your response was to my post, I'll have you know that I've never offered to sell any information. I only share what others were kind enough to share with me.

Yes, this feature can be turned on with Bimmercode. Let me know if you need the instructions.
Hi Mark,

Yes, that would be great. I'm familiar with Bimmercode so they don't need to be exhaustive. Thank you in advance.

It really cheapens the brand IMHO.

Kind of like going to a high end steak house and they start nickel and diming you for everything. $1 for a fork, $3 for water, and so forth and so on. To a point you start to feel like you’re getting shaken down by a sleaze ball and it tarnishes that image of a relaxing time out with family or friends.

If you go down to the bottom end of the automotive market in the US. People have weekly car payments and they are nickel and dimed at every chance a sleazy “drive here pay here” car salesman can get. Seeing that in a luxury brand is not a good look.

Yeah, agree, it's not perfect. I find I miss not having it on contraflow roads though as I've had it on all my recent motors and the M5 I just sold. The missus has it on her 7 also.

Others here suggest otherwise. I have Bimmercode & dongle. If the suggestion is a stock BC toggle, I'll try it… if it requires pasting code from here into the 'Expert mode' in BC, no thanks. Will revert with findings.
