BMW 530e Battery - Turn off all current

I'm looking to do a heated wheel retrofit on my 530e and when I disconnected the primary battery on the passenger side, the car was still "alive"...

Obviously, I was quite surprised as in my F30 330e and every other car, disconnecting terminals kills the current.

Is there another location I need to disconnect??

Yes, I learned today that there is an auxiliary battery under the trunk floor. Sadly, I have to replace mine as I bought the car as a CPO and batteries are not covered.

Do you have any details for fully disconnecting all current? I'm attempting the AC compressor and I want to ensure everything is fully disconnected.

Yes. You need to disconnect the battery in the center of the trunk, not the side. You need to remove the pins for the flooring underneath the trunk bottom that goes up and down. 4 plastic push pins. Then just remove the floor trim. Then disconnect battery. Car goes dead after a couple of seconds.

I did this to replace my steering wheel.

Is for the HV battery too? Do you need any special equipment as I believe the HV battery can be as high as 400V which is nothing to mess around with?

Put the car into service mode. There is a green HV disconnect plug in the boot / trunk. YT has a few videos that show what to do.
