2018 M550i xDrive delivered!

I took delivery of this new 2018 M550i xDrive two weeks ago and absolutely love it! Added some custom wheels and tinted the windows. Just thought I'd share some photos.

Thanks! Here are a couple of photos of the wheels. They are for Ferrada FR2's, 20×10.5 in the rear and 20×9 in the front. In the photo of them on my car they're dirty so I attached a stock image as well.

They're actually a high end wheel made in the USA and it's ok if you don't like them. It came with the BMW 20" wheels but didn't sit as nice (in my opinion).

Looks good. Are you running those wheels with the same tires that came on the other 20s (245/35-20 and 275/30-20)? If so, with that wheel width you can probably run something like 265 and 295, which is also why it appears that the wheel lip "sticks out" from the side more than the tire. Not a criticism, just an observation.

Thanks. Yes, it came with
Goodyear F1 asymmetric 3's
Front 245/35 R20
Rear 275/30 R20

I kept those tires since they are good tires but may change them in the future. I agree, I think a bit more tire may look better.

Yeah, some people like/go for that "look" with the wheel/tire combo.

There are a range of tire sizes that are possible to run on various wheel widths; some are seen as more "suitable"/"appropriate" than others. I believe those widths on your current wheels are going to be close if not the same as the standard on the F90 M5, which calls for 265 and 295 tire widths. But again, more tire widths can be mounted and get a good seal. (Just watch out for curbs!!)

Your mileage may vary — pun intended. ;-)

Great car!

He is running the correct tire size.
But those run-flat have weird sidewall design.
My 245/35-20 and 275/30-20 on the Vorsteiner doesn't stretch like that.
The wheel was 20x9 and 20x10.

There is no one "correct" tire size given a particular wheel width...there are a range of sizes that will work, and this is a tire size that is compatible with that wheel. If you increase an inch in width of the wheel from where 245/35-20 and 275/30-20 was stock, it's not reasonable to say that's still the "correct" size; it's reasonable to say that it will still work, and is in this case at the low end of what will fit and create a reliable seal on that wheel.

BMW is using 275/35-20 and 295/35-20 on 20x9 and 20x10, respectively, on F90 M5 — which is probably safe to say is an "optimal" size for that wheel. Again, not saying OP is "wrong" or anything similar...but when you take a tire that is optimally sized for 20x8 and 20x9 (which is where these came from), it's no longer going to be optimal when you go to 20x9 and 20x10. Again I am not criticizing OP for using these tires on these wheels.

So I switched the tires today to the size you mentioned (275/35-20 and 295/35-20) and it looks much better! Thanks for the suggestion.

Are the wheel bolt patterns still 5x120 or are they different for the 2017 models? By the way, looks nice especially with the wider tires.

Mine is an 2018 and the bolt pattern is 5x112. Not sure on the 2017. Hope that helps.

I think the wheels would look better if they had BMW center caps. I think the wheels look great but this change would make it look more OEM + versus aftermarket.
