I don't want to spoil the party, but just because the car is built doesn't necesarily mean that it will be delivered any time soon. Yesterday it was exactly 1 year since I ordered a 545e. According to the VIN my car was built on Nov 15th last year, but so far still stuck in Germany with status code 180.
The car has been speced with almost all options, and as far as I can see only the M-Sport brakes have been removed from final specs. My dealer either can't find out or will not tell me what is holding up the delivery... I'm curious to hear if there are anywone else experiencing such delays after the car has been built. Or have been told that options have been removed from spec in order to advance delivery? |

There is no way BMW would just have your car sit for 5+ months finished and ready for export (Code 180)
I would be going above the dealer / speaking to the online 'genius' to find out the real story. That is costing BMW money to have it sat there, finished and unpaid for (if that is what is occurring) |

Three weeks before build date, and after having been assured only two weeks ago that all options would be fitted - a call to ask if I would accept without the B&W system.
One of the main reasons I went with the 545. Basically Im given take it or leave it, after having it on order since November 4th Rock and a hard place. 1st world problems. It does not make me any happier though. |

Yet still available to order online in the configurator.
After such a long wait I am utterly disgusted being honest. Feels not unlike being conned into something. One of THE main reasons for opting for this 5 was the availability of this setup. Im waiting another week to decide just what to do. Never going to be really happy with the car without it, so rock/hard place it is. I retail B&W here in the UK, and have just completed a new demonstration room and installed the new range 801 D4 into it. The rest of the 800 range + the 700 series are in other rooms here. So to not have this set available to me is particularly galling. I would like to know if it is the speakers that are N/A (I believe they are) or more likely the amp / other components that are short. I can understand your disappointment even more given your profession. Interestingly as I pointed out to my garage several new cars are available immediately in the UK with B&W fitted some appeared as recently as this week so made within the last month or so I assume. This is one (attached link). I cannot get a definitive reply if the problem is chips or Ukraine. The later is more understandable. If it is B&W themselves then they need rapidly to get their business in order as many of us did during and after covid. Checked again - now B&W gone from all 5 series on UK configurator.
Not looking hopeful. Also been pushed back another 6 weeks in build slot. Apparently it is still showing on 'build sheet' but that can change on production day the advisor stated. Something of a shambles on stock allocation there I think. that will be 9 month delivery - if it stays at that, again, I am doubtful. Wait time less of an issue for me, as I have a car to drive, but would like some sort of real idea just what is happening. |

Yup, and as soon as you highlight that option and hit select, up pops this in red :-
"Due to product updates it is currently not possible to add the desired option to your configuration." Looks like they are now purely for 7 / 8 series, but not even checked those. |

Losing the will to live with this order / BMW being honest.
Pushed back and back, then no B&W, then a further 6 week push back. Now on as 'Cannot schedule date' and all dealer can say is 'we should know by the end of the month' My patience is now wafer thin on this, I am aware of the worldwide issues etc, but after 14/15 months of messing about with the brand I am asking myself "are they worth this much hassle" |

When the build was complete, it then listed iDrive controller classic -- non touchpad. So it looked like all three items had been removed or changed. When the car arrived last week it actually had the hands free tailgate, even though it was not on the spec listing. |

Just for perspective, I ordered on July 6 of last year and received the car by August 23rd. I may have gotten lucky and I think my dealer had already placed an order for an M550 and just let me change around options, so I didn't have to wait for an allocation. When I was calling dealers just a few weeks prior to July, they were telling me only MY21s were being produced at that time and that I'd have to place a custom order for a MY21 and take delivery in September. So depending on how honest your dealer is, it can be as soon as August for a MY23 M550 or September for a MY22. I think there were people who ordered in April of 2021 for a MY21 and still didn't have their cars when I got my MY22 in August. |
