I think your on to it, here.
They don't care if you're an enthusiast. They don't care if you flip it or keep it. If you've financially supported M Division by consistently purchasing M cars, then have a reward. And do whatever you want with it. IMO, their intent is no more complicated than that.
What seems to me more complicated (and more interesting) is how they plan on executing their intent - whatever that may be. Does M Division (or whoever the sage might be), for example, identify to the dealer the chosen one? And, of course, who gets to set the price for the chosen one? And suppose the chosen one declines to buy it, say because the dealers "market adjustment" seems a bit out of wack? Where would the car it go next?
Perhaps, since you work for BMW, you could provide some insight on these questions.
I agree with you finally.

There are no guarantees to any dealer. They are truly hand picking the owners. The only question that is still unanswered is something you pointed out, what if a client doesn't take the car. We have not been informed if BMW NA would take the car or allow for it to be stocked in. There are no restrictions on the price, the dealers can do what they will. With the fact that the car would be most likely going to a client that the dealership has a great relationship with, I'd hope that the client wouldn't get price gouged.

Hey PeterK - do you work for BMWNA or a dealer? When you refer to "regional manager", is this a BMWNA regional manager or your dealer's regional manager?

M4GTS United States Allocations

I received a text message from my local BMW salesperson yesterday. He informed me that BMW USA sent notification yesterday afternoon listing all customers who had been allocated M4GTS vehicles in the USA. There were 2,900 Bios submitted and 300 vehicles allocated. I was told that BMW USA would be contacting me with further instructions regarding the purchase process.
I will post additional information as it becomes available.

I heard a similar thing on Friday except that there will be only 299 available. One going to the museum......

Wow, 2900!? I guess my chances aren't as good as I had hoped. It would be interesting to see who on this forum has requested one.

I have one on order that I will most likely pass up. According to my dealer they got 3 build slots, not sure if that's because there were 3 of us that wanted the car or if they get a certain number for being a high volume dealer. I'll update when I hear more specifics.

Well if it's 299/300 out of 2900 then I'm probably sh!t out of luck, plus the guys at my dealership aren't really knowledgeable on this either.

I guess I will be going with a Viper then

When the when the first 300 chosen ones find out about the "market adjustment," I suspect many will drop out. For that reason and for the other myriad of reasons for dropping out. It wouldn't surprise me to learn the #1500 priority guy got the last one. So, hang in there.

It's funny that I keep seeing people here refer to "market adjustment". Both and friend and I are hoping/planning on getting GTS cars and both our dealerships have a no market adjustment policy. Full MSRP is one thing but over that is crazy.

I'd look for another dealership that values your relationship more.

Yes, the outrage is ridiculous. Asking if someone is involved with the BMW community is not some diabolically intrusive question. They don't care what a person's other social commitments are.

BMW is entirely entitled to want their limited production car to be appreciated by fans rather than some collector who will keep it in a garage or try to flip it like you said.

You can pm Jason and ask if I'm a credible source, he'll tell you.

Approvals are rolling out tonight.

BMW will be mailing vouchers to the owners for delivery.

Vouchers are not transferable.
Vehicle will not be able to be leased.
No European Delivery (citing complexity of the GTS).

that's what I thought with regards to leasing. why go through the effort of vetting bios if the person is returning it in 36 months for a low monthly paymen

I'm simply stating for United States vehicles. I do not know what NA is doing for Canadian vehicles.

I knew the Euro delivery cars were alloted and trips booked.I am just trying to get a car for May so I can compete in the Canadian Track Day Adventure with the GTS.Failing that I will use my present M4 once again or the M2 that I ordered for my wife.

Production starts in March and the first cars will be allocated for the trip. Add 6 weeks to get it shipped over here. Then your dealer would also have to be lucky enough to get one of the earlier allocation and you have to be on the top of the list. That's like asking for a miracle to happen.
