I have a 2020 and the same adapter; coded off ASD in January and quickly turned it back on... really would like the car to have a more aggressive sound without having to spend money and time on a different exhaust.

ASD was really obnoxious in my M4, hated it. Didn't even know I had it in the M550, because I like the way it sounds. After watching this, I agree....it stays on.

I had no idea in the beginning also. Until I read about it and had some people tell me to turn it off. Was curious after I read about it and contrary to some other opinions I actually like it. I am with you!!

ASD is turned off in the 530i from factory. Not sure if it can be enabled via coding.

Oh definitely stays on, it adds to the driving dynamic. It's already fake, people who know, know so they're already unimpressed with the feature having to added to an "M" badged car, no use in trying to sway their opinions lol. It deadens like 75% of sound like you're being chauffeured in the back on an Alpina B7.

Edit:
Also to add on the 550 has a fuse (203) that can be pulled which will allow the valves on the stock exhaust to remain open. Seems to add a significant amount of true sound with respect to what it's like with the optioned turned on by default.

Thanks. It is disabled on my 2017 530i. Not sure if that changed in further years for the US market.

I have a 2018 m550i and I had the sound coded out. Afterwards Icouldn't hear any exhaust noise whatsoever. Needless to say it was reversed and I've come to appreciate it more and more.

This doesn't seem to work on my 2023 m550i anymore. Bimmercode appears to disable ASD, but it definitely doesn't sound like ASD is off.

Anyone using iOS successfully disabled ASD on a 2023 (or maybe even 2022)?

I coded ASD off and it was the best thing I ever did for two reasons:

1
I can actually hear my Dinan exhaust in the cabin without the fake noise being pumped in.

2
Acoustically, Bowers and Wilkins sounds even better than it already did without ASD competing for speaker bandwidth. Makes perfect sense, it is really white noise.

That makes sense. The iDrive 7 cars have a RAM module that controls ASD and other functions, including pedestrian sound in my 530e, which I don’t think is yet supported for coding.

Did you check for updates on Bimmercode ?
Cant see a reason why you should not be able to disable it.
I doubt BMW would pay a coder to not allow that as probably 80% of BMW drivers dont even know about it.
