iDrive software current version

2017 G30 530i

Does anyone have a more recent iDrive software update than this:

TB 007.005.013
MB 007.005.013

The BMW software update page https://www.bmw.com/en/footer/software-updates.html is not of much help since the software update file appears to be older than what my car has. This site has UPD09042.bin as latest update but if you look at update information PDF it would install:

TB 001.062.032
MB 001.062.040

Does anyone know where to find latest software update (besides dealer)?

It would probably help if anyone that has a more recent iDrive software update than TB 007.005.013 & MB 007.005.013 share their file name

Currently there's no other way than visiting a dealer. The software update page has been outdated for a while and with new iDrive 7 with OTA, the page is becoming obsolete...

was told by connected drive services this is latest as of yesterday.

regrettably for bmws reputation, there is no way to tell its latest except perhaps trusting that the uk website serves up the right file and and update error is proof.

hard to swallow though, as the update error in car message points user to US update site which serves up a different later file for the vin..

neither of which worked so i called bmw and they confirmed it was the latest..(taking everything bmw say with regards to software with a pinch of salt)

What exactly are you looking for to get out of this update?

Just to add my software version, I'm running MY2019 iDrive 6 with:

TB 006.027.001

Is there any way to update using USB?

Yes. Follow the instructions provided in the link with the release notes corresponding to the iDrive firmware upgrade assuming one is available/due for your car.

And wouldn't be surprised if BMW is moving away from providing further updates to ID6 since it is pretty much end of life.

My 2018 G30 is barely more than two years old. Calling that "end of life" would be a joke. I assume BMW will continue to support its relatively new vehicles.

Well ID7 is the replacement of ID6 and most new BMWs are being switched to ID7.

I agree it is a joke but planned obsolescence at its finest.

ID8 will be out before you know it😉

I doubt BMW will take this route. For starters, BMW would really prefer owners to enjoy their iDrive system enough to subscribe to its extra features once their 3 year free period expires. If they don't keep it working then that's less likely to happen.

I jumped to BMW from Mercedes primarily because Mercedes seems to abandon their devices as soon as they are released. BMW seems to have their head on their shoulders tech wise. Tesla has a faster release cadence don't get me wrong, but when it comes to traditional automakers I think BMW is the best in this regard...

Back to my Mercedes. I purchased a 2014 C300 and within a year of being released they nerfed many features of its online platform (which included no free period at the time like they do now). They also replaced the phone app with 3 different apps that weren't connected at all. Each new version lacking features from the last. The system wouldn't work regularly for weeks at a time and there were zero updates to the in car system ever. Unless you paid for Map Updates. RTTI information came from Sirius as a separate subscription...

I don't expect BMW to add iDrive 7 Live Cockpit, for instance, to iDrive 6, but I expect BMW will be updating iDrive 6 for the foreseeable future.

I hope that's the case.

I generally enjoy iDrive very much and believe is among the best implementations in the industry.

My 2019 last gen now and I only plan to finagle to get my car updated since it's already behind but I don't expect any moving forward now that id7 is here.

Can anyone recommend a dealership in Los Angeles where I can get iDrive software updated to the latest version? I am mainly looking for improvements to the driving assistance plus package as I have it on my car and I believe newer software may improve how it works in traffic.

The problem is my closest dealership (beverly hills) is not willing to do updates. I'd go to another dealer and even pay a reasonable fee to have it done if it is not included in the warranty. It's a CPO car and is still covered under the BMW ultimate care package.

2018 G30 540i
Telephone: TB-006.016.002
Media: TB-006.016.002

Thanks in advance!

I don't know of any dealerships there - but from what I've read here, I believe you will get charged unless there's a specific thing you're impacted by (one that can be fixed by the firmware update)
