Slight hesitation upon Acceleration

My 323 (automatic) is about 3 weeks old and I've noticed that more often than not, there is a slight delay as to when I press the gas pedal and when the car accelerates.
I thought initially it had to do with Hill Assist, but my recent tests were on level ground.
It seems if I stop at a light and then when green, I quickly press the gas pedal that this occurs. What I seem to have discovered is that if I take my foot off the brake and wait for the car to roll slightly(in D) and then hit the gas, there is no delay.
Almost like the brakes are grabbing for a second.

Anyone have this or have any suggestions?
I'm now talking with BMW too.
Thanks

I love the quick stab of the gas pedal launching my car off the mark very quickly. No hesitation at all. In fact the instant result is head jerking. The early E90s, especially in the US (or pretty much confined to the US) had similar problems that seemed to be ddressed with software updates.

You may need to speak to your dealer about this as you should not be experiencing any of the hesitation.

If I'm not mistaken, the e90 actually starts out in second gear. It's supposed to aid in gas consumption. There was a thread on this not too long ago, perhaps do a search on it. I noticed the same thing when I first got mine, now I'm used to it and "floor" it. Drop it in sport mode, it should take right off, weeeeeeeeee.

try it in DS mode or the steptronic mode, the auto mode starts in second gear, so the off-line launch is not the greatest. As well, this goes without saying, but please do keep in mind you have the 323 coupled with an automatic transmission, so the sprint may not be as quick as say a 323 with a manual.

considering that the auto starts off in 2nd gear to aid in gas consumption, would it be bad to start off in 2nd gear in manual transmissions?
