Apple Carplay music playback woes.
When using Apple CP for some reason music randomly drops for a milli second now and again.
Calls don't suffer same issue, is the music handled over wifi and calls Bluetooth? Seams to be related to going over bumps. Cant see on real oem where the wifi module/antenna or Bluetooth unit is to check connections. Any advice? I know it's probably a case that I don't know the name of the unit or it's acronym so thanks in advance. |

Is there any chance this happens in the same place all the time? I've noticed I lose Bluetooth/CarPlay in a 500 foot (or so) range of this Starbucks I go to everyday. It does happen intermittently in other areas but I don't associated it with bumps or the car jostling. I'm guessing interference.

Posted too soon seems it's detailed where it is in this thread.
Anyone else have this issue and figured out a solution. https://g30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1544553 |

Crypto, it's random and can happen even on a remote motorway.
Seems to be based on a bump or shake in the road but could just be coincidence hence why I'm trying to check the wifi antenna connector. Maybe loose. Also I coded full screen and could swear it wasn't happening before that but I rarely used it when it was 3/4 screen as it annoyed me so that may not be the case. Would be great to know if music is handled by wifi and calls by Bluetooth as my calls are rock solid. Also tried leaving my Apple Watch at home made no difference as I thought perhaps it's interfering with it. I have noticed music drop for quick second as well and often enough that it has become apparent now but not sure what caused it. Also as CnSky said, I didn't notice this before my fullscreen applecarplay but after that I have so very hard to pinpoint

I don't think that's normal. I don't have any issues with Apple Carplay in my car. Going over bumps shouldn't impact anything. Sounds like a loose connection. I would have the dealership take a look at it.

Similar things occur with my BT earbuds/portable speakers IF and ONLY IF connected to WiFi at the same time. |

It's not a bump issue I tested lots of Bluetooth headsets and other cars since and it's exists on them all, I think this is all since iOS 14 but I feel I have solved it.
Although for how long who knows. I switched off Siri then did a network reset and turned off background refresh on all apps unless they asked for it switched on again when using. Amazingly of all my apps only two demand to be on background refresh. Then setup Siri as below image.(click on image to see all settings) No drops since. |

I wonder if only those with coded full screen are experiencing this?
I also have a ton of music to sync on my phone don't use any services so perhaps it's also a common link. This is again random and adds no value but my phone scrolled down to this exact point why I was feeding something to my daughter. I spent a solid 7 seconds trying to figure out how the hell this menu randomly came up and why I couldn't toggle any of the buttons lol. 😳

Think I have solved this issue.
The latest IOS update brought out private IP address abs wifi assist setting which switches on for all network connections as default. I turned both off on the bmw connection for my CarPlay and all drops/ crackling gone apart from the two spots in town where it always happens due interference from high power police/fire service aerials etc. Make sure private address and low data mode are both switched off. You think Apple would have warned Apple car play users!! |

Joe regards the above settings are yours on or off?
Maybe Apple realised how much of a mess it was and have solved it in the new beta IOS with the setting set to off for Apple car play and mesh wifi connections. Would be great if that was the case as then we know they listen. The same settings were causing wifi lock ups on mesh networks that's how I discovered the problem as my own mesh was experiencing the issue, I then tried the same for my Apple car play connection and BINGO!! I was going to check for you, but my car is in the shop. My X3 loaner has CarPlay and I hooked it up. Obviously don't have a lot of sample time to check for music drops, none on my drive home from work, but I'll check the WiFi connection settings tomorrow for you.

Got the car back yesterday. Sorry for the delay. Here are my settings. I didn't change anything from the default activation settings. Hope this helps.

Tried that as well didn't make a difference also disabled in car wifi and hotspot also no difference.
Starting to think it's either the phone or latest IOS is broken. Seems a lot of people having this issue worldwide on many cars that use WiFi ACP connections. Also see some people stating if battery is 100% it doesn't have drops, haven't tried this yet but that would lean me towards a power management issue with the phone itself. |

Tried chasing it down, even had my dealer update the car (even they "don't cover AppleCare issues), changed iPhones and in the end I've learned to control my eve twitches when i hear my music cut out 🤣
