Saw a G30 in Copenhagen making a right turn and the amber LEDs look so much better than the full red LEDs we get for the US market G30s.

Is this some FDOT regulation that changed in the last few years? I remember you could still get E46, E39 BMWs in the US market way back when with amber turn signal lights.

I thought I read somewhere in this forum that that rule might be changing in not too distant future?
Do a search here and see if you can find a thread on it.
Must admit never saw the logic of that regulation, amber turn signals just seem much more logical to me.

Yes they are more logical indeed. And visually they can not be confused with the breaking red lights.

I personally like the look of a fully red tailight with a white strip (similar to the F15 X5) used for amber turn signals. The 3 series overseas gas amber turn signals but they look bad when not used as they don’t blend with the tailight design and look like an afterthought, but YES please make turn signals amber and not red, its so much easier to notice on the highway.

Wait.. there is signal light???
I rarely seen people using them.
So, I guess it don't matter what color is it.

Funny how US owners want ROW specs, and ROW specs owners want US specs.

True!

My personal preference is for red turn signals because it's a cleaner look...i.e. looks less of a Christmas tree.
Plus, with the modern LED's transition time (super fast), the blinking, even in red, is really much more noticeable than just a few years ago.
North America allows red signals, Europe does not. (With one exception, Switzerland.)

My only plausible conspiracy theory i could come up with is that there is a lot of gray re-import going on from the US back to Germany. It's crazy but if you live in Germany, a German made car could cost you less if you purchase it in the US and ship it back as personal property. BMW and Mercedes hate this practice (when I bought my last bmw, the dealer made me sign a paper that said I promise not to export the car in its first year or something like that.
So....in order to make a US spec car street legal in Europe, certain modifications have to be made....headlights, speedometers, emissions, and taillights. I have a feeling BMW uses this as a deterrent for people who want to import a car from the us. Just a hunch.

Garage List
This is one of my 1st Mods

I hate the red turn signals and immediately pick a ROW set up when I am in Europe for my car.

Red Turn signals is nothing but a N. American thing and I am yet to see anyone outside of the US wanting these.

Visually, when the lights are off, you won't be able to tell the difference.

Here is my current F10 tails US vs ROW side by side.

I will order a set for my G30 when I get the car next year.

I think it is a tempest in a teapot. The only people who can tell the difference are other drivers behind you. Who cares what they see?
