Passenger side exhaust

I have a '19 540 and I just got back from a 55 mile trip and the left side is warm/hot and the passenger side is cold. not even warm...is this normal? I figure it would at least open up at speed...

I thought they were both real exhausts? Sure someone will be along to confirm either way

I'm sure they are but seems odd after driving 50 miles on the highway one of them is cold...

I have a 530e so I use my ICE a lot less than others BUT I still show exhaust marks on both tail pipes. So they are real.

The passenger side will open on hard acceleration and spirited throttling.

Try it in sport or sport+. On my 550 it has quad exhaust yet all four aren't open in comfort.

I don't think speed, or at least continuous speed, is the issue. You can cruise at a high speed and not need to open the passenger side exhaust.

Rapid acceleration is more likely to put a load on the car and cause the passenger side pipe to open.

This will be a day 1 mod for me once I get my car. On the 335s we used to unplug the exhaust valve power which caused it to stay open, E46's had the golf tee mod and thank goodness F10 did not require anything.

I am sure there is a way to keep both valves open :-)

I did the golf tee mod on my wife's 2010 335iC - love the sound! I don't think that applies to the G30 unfortunately.

on another note, I finally got to see the grill louvers open yesterday when it was warm out! Wasn't sure they actually functioned...they do!
