AMPs for 530e
Does anyone know the maximum amount of amps the 530e can draw? Going to buy a L2 charger, and amps seems to have the greatest effect on price. Thanks!

I don't see any reason it can't take more, but I got a 32 amp station for future proofing. I figured if I went to the trouble and expense of a station I might as well commit to PHEV's or BEV's from this point forward. It will only charge up to 3.6kw/h, however.

It will draw 16 amps at 220/240v. When using the level 1 charger, it can draw 12amps at 120v if set to max charge. Level 2 effectively cuts charging time in half. Fast charge isn't supported in these cars.

Can I charge with a Dryer 240V 30 amp outlet
I have an unused 30amp Dryer plug. Can I buy a new charger and then charge the car safely faster than the 120?
An installer told me that it had to be a 50 amp for electric cars. But I'm wondering if that is true, or is he just trying to sell the job? Just curious..... Thanks Ethan- |

If you have the capacity, I would go big. In my case, I didn't have the capacity so I went with a lesser capacity that is still fine for my 530e.
