Anyone else get a LOUD "pop" when making a phone call?

Quite often, when i'm making a call via bluetooth, i get a loud "pop" sound that sounds exactly like a large rock hitting the windshield. Scares the Sh!!t outta me every single time...

Have you tried another phone in case it's something to do with the communication between the two?. I've not experienced any pops using my iPhone se and 4s

16 months and no such sounds. And I have used my phone a lot (always in speakerphone mode).

I know exactly the kind of thing you're talking about. I've had this in one of my other cars, but never in the BMW. First thing is to make sure it's actually the car giving you the problem i.e. try another phone, reset Bluetooth on the phone, etc.

I'll try reconnecting the phone. And it seems to only happen when making a call and not always.

This happens on occasion when I use waze. Never on calls. I almost always use the OEM nav so mostly forgot about it.

I like Waze but don't use it via apple car play because I find it a bit of a pain to switch over from idrive to ACP.

Try deleting bluetooth pairing and re-pair with car. if that doesn't help, take car to dealer. Let them know this popping is unacceptable. Likely they'll do an iStep upgrade which will upgrade firmware on your Nav. Hopefully that fixes it.

A family member has a 2017 G30 and had all sorts of Bluetooth issues, like screeching when making first call after starting car.... Dealer did iStep upgrade and that fixed it.

I deleted the phone, added it back, happened 2-3 times today already. It's only when I make calls or listen to voicemails in the car. It scares the crap out of me every time! I'm almost afraid to make a call...

Next stop is dealer. Be vigilant and complain. Mention them checking iStep version on car. Very likely they'll upgrade it because that's typically first thing BMWNA asks dealers to do.
